Het verhaal:
Far Cry 2 sets you in an African landset with a government that has lost all control and a country with two rival factions currently vying to take over. Worst of all is the gun-runner that is supplying everybody with ammunition to wage war. The goal of the game is to defeat the head of the gun-running, but it won't just be an easy task, nor will you only see him at the end of the game boss battle. This is a character that you meet early in the game, when you are sick in bed with malaria and he comes to visit, giving you a gun, and telling you "Good luck finding me". It's then up to you to do just that, extracting information from the factions and using them correctly to get to the ultimate objective.
Factsheet:
- The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal
- It takes place in Africa
- The gameplay is truly non-linear and is a sandbox style of gameplay just like the Grand Theft Auto games. This means go wherever you want to do anything you want whenever you want.
- There is over 50 square kilometers of terrain to explore (compared to GTA: San Andrea's 40 square kilometers). The terrain includes the savannah, desert, as well as dense jungles.
- Weather reacts upon the game world. Branches sway with the wind and can even be torn off by strong enough winds.
- Running into a tree can cause it to break and fall down, just shake, or the player to crash to the floor, all depending on the size of the tree.
- The enemies are all created dynamically meaning you'll never see the same enemy twice.
- There are over thirty weapons.
- There are 14 different vehicles.
- Weapons can take damage and begin to malfunction and wear out. It's up to the player to take care of his weapons and keep them in top condition for the journey.
- Health packs are gone and your health regenerates if you are not shot within a certain period of time.
- There is contextual animation for healing. So if the player has been walking too close to fire, you'll see his arm go up and he pats the fire out on his sleeve. A grenade blast might cause the player to have to relocate his ankle or pull out some shattered teeth.
- There is a day and night system.
- There is a dynamic weather system that adapts to how well you are currently doing. If you're shooting everything in site, and well too, the skies will be clear and sunny, but if you start getting owned, the sky will darken and become overcast.
- Kill a captain and his soldiers will lose their morale and become weaker and easier to kill.
