This year’s upgrade is based on Windows Phone 7’s beautiful “Metro” theme with tiles, Simpler. Cleaner. Easier to navigate. With the addition of new entertainment content on Xbox LIVE and our commitment to continuously improving the overall Xbox experience, we’ve updated the dashboard with a new look and feel that makes it even more open, inviting and intuitive to navigate. All of your favorite content is categorized in a way that is easy to browse and find what you’re looking for, plus you can use voice anywhere in the dashboard to effortlessly navigate and get to what you want. 'Home entertainment system' The new experience comes with even better core Kinect integration so you can utter voice commands to make the Xbox do your bidding. So, for example speaking “Xbox, games!” will take you straight to the games menu, “Xbox, music!” will take you to the music menu and so on and so forth. The idea is to do away with controllers and focus on voice alone. 'LIVE TV' You can now watch Live TV on Xbox. This doesn’t have as many channels as your cable or satellite connection, but it will be there some day. For the Fall release of the new Xbox dashboard, you’ll get live streaming television from networks like Canal+, Sky TV and Foxtel. More content partnerships will come as time passes. 'YOUTUBE' Besides this, YouTube will also come to Xbox so you can browse YouTube’s virtually unlimited supply of video on your Xbox-connected TV. 'BING' The biggest inclusion though, we believe, is Bing. This is not a half-baked feature. Bing for Xbox is brought up by speaking, “Xbox, bing!”. Once the Bing menu is brought up – eye catching image of the day and all – you can use it search not only your Xbox but services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Video marketplace and other as-of-yet unspecified content providers. For example, if you want to search for "Lego”, you say, “Xbox, bing! Lego!” and Xbox will show you games and videos related to the search term. 'BEACONS' We want to make it easy for you to connect with friends over your favorite games on Xbox LIVE, so we are introducing Beacons to the service. Beacons are a way to tell your Xbox LIVE and Facebook friends that you want to play a game on Xbox LIVE. By setting a Beacon, you tell Xbox LIVE what you want to play. Then, Xbox LIVE lets you know when friends are playing or want to play the same game. With Beacons, no matter what you’re currently doing on Xbox LIVE your friends know that it’s ok to ask you to play your Beaconed games. Imagine sending out a Beacon to let your friends know you’re interested in playing “Halo,” while watching a movie on Netflix. It’s about making it easier for you to share and discover games and multiplayer opportunities with friends on Xbox LIVE. 'APPS MARKETPLACE' While this wasn’t announced on stage, WinRumors reports that Microsoft included an image in the press kit which showed a new hub on Xbox 360 for “apps”, perhaps pointing towards a possible Silverlight based Marketplace coming to Xbox experience soon. 'CLOUD STORAGE' Here at Xbox LIVE we listen to your feedback. We are making it easier for you to sign into your Xbox LIVE account from any console at any time to access your game saves and full profile, including items such as Microsoft Points to make purchases, Achievements and friends. Cloud storage will allow you to enjoy the same great Xbox LIVE gaming experience even when you’re not in your own living room by giving you the option to store your “game saves” securely in the Xbox LIVE cloud instead of on a portable memory unit or your console’s hard drive. New Social & Video Sections​ In the coming days, the familiar “My Xbox” section of Xbox.com is going away. Fear not: It’s being replaced with a significant update that will make it even easier to see what your friends are doing on Xbox LIVE. My Xbox is being superceded by the new “Social” section, which not only lets you see at a glance what your friends are up to, but also gives you early access to one of the coolest features coming in the next Xbox 360 dashboard update. That’s right: Xbox.com users will be the very first to try the new Beacons feature, which lets you mark games you want to play with others, making it easier to find friends who want to play the same games.​ ​ That’s not all we have in store: Other site enhancements are on the way, including the ability to search the Zune video catalog and buy/rent movies and TV shows right from your browser.​ If you’re used to clicking “My Xbox” to get to the page, note that the Xbox.com navigation menu is undergoing some changes to make room for our new Video page and some other new items. Now we get to the really fun stuff: The Friends Activity column shows you the popular games that your friends have been playing, who is playing those games right now, and who else has played them recently. (More on this in a few.) In the right-hand column, you can see the games and applications you’ve most recently loaded, as well as how many friends are playing them, and below that, you can view a list of your online friends and what they’re currently doing.​ Click “Activity” at the top of the screen to view the new Activity page. At the top, in the My Recent Activity section, you’ll see the titles you’ve most recently played and which of your friends are playing them as well, in addition to any titles you’ve set a Beacon for. To set a Beacon for a title that you want to play with others, you’ll just find it in your activity list and click the “Set Beacon” button. You can have up to three Beacons active at a time, and you can optionally add a custom description (such as “From 7-10 pm Pacific” or “Horde Mode!”).​ ​ Click a title and you’ll be taken to a page that not only shows your achievements, but also which of your friends have also set Beacons for that game. Below the Beacons you can see anyone who’s online playing right now, and others who’ve recently played it. You’ll also be alerted to friends playing titles that you’ve set a Beacon for on your Xbox 360, but that won’t happen until after the next System Update goes live. However, Windows Phone users will be able to see Beacons under the Xbox LIVE Requests section right away!​ ​ There’s other new functionality available from the new Social page, including a revamped Messages section, and the ability to visit friends’ profiles to see the Beacons they’ve set, but we’ll leave the rest for you to explore.​ You’ll also want to browse around the rest of Xbox.com, as the update will add other new functions to the site, such as a new Video section that lets you browse the Zune video catalog and purchase movies and TV shows to watch later on your Xbox 360, Windows Phone, or Zune media player.​ ​ We’d love to hear what you think of the enhancements to Xbox.com. Duurt een aantal dagen.

 

Dulle wat gebeurt er als ik de Xbox opstart. Start hij automatisch die update? Ik heb op dit moment geen tv dus zo doende. Kan ik alvast de update binnen halen.

Ik vind het echt helemaal niet mooi, ik hoop dat je mag kiezen om de oude te behouden

 

Had me tijd geleden ook aangemeld voor de NXE Beta. Krijg je een mail? Heb trouwens nergens m'n console serienummer in hoeven vullen.

 

Dat heb ik met elke restyle van het dashbooard maar na een paar weken wil ik vaak niet meer anders

 

Hier ook. De enige reden dat ik de blades terug wil is om nostalgische redenen, maar dat mensen niet aankomen dat ie echt beter was.

Nee, je moet hier naar toe en dan de bovenste link aanklikken.

 

Die blades waren geniaal als je niks te doen had, snel van links naar rechts en naar die geluidjes luisteren van het veranderen van de blades.

Ik vind hem een beetje te Windows Phone achtig
