Introduction
Welcome to the Huxley FAQ, here I'll tell you about the up-and-coming game for the Xbox 360 and PC, a game of epic proportions which will have 5,000 people all playing in one world online, in a first-person frenzy of action, strategy, and struggle.
Sound interesting? Thought so. Since Huxley is in its Alpha stage, no beta testing or actual place is known yet, and even developers are questioning how far the game will go, the limits and precise details of the game, and how the game will function.
FAQ
Is there a monthly fee?
To play the game there is a monthly fee. Right now it hasn't been decided or released, but it is predicted to be somewhere from thirteen to fifteen dollars.
Is this the first Massively-Multiplayer Online First-Person Shooter ever!?
No. One has been released on the computer, known as Planetside. However, Huxley is the first MMOFPS or Persistent-Online Shooter ever on the console.
If I play on PC, can I play a friend on the 360?
Right now, it's just a guess, and that guess is no, because the developers are releasing the game on 360 after the PC release.
Who is the game being developed by?
Huxley is being developed by Webzen, a company which hopes to dominate the Massively Multiplayer Online community of the next-generation consoles. Already they are publishing a game by the Grand Theft Auto creator David Jones called A.P.B. which is a Turf War, Gang MMO. They are also Developing Endless Saga for the Playstation 3 and PC, a Fantasy/Action Persistent Online Game. Finally, Webzen is Publishing and Developing Huxley, the Persistent Online Shooter.
What's the story in the game?
The story takes place in the near future, where nuclearites have bombarded the world and reshaped it with the force of tidal waves, dramatic climate changes and large-scale earthquakes. The destruction has brought an end to many of the people who used to dwell on the planet, and afterwards, the survivors hope to rebuild and live peacefully.
However, the rest of the planet is divided as a new force emerges: mutants known as the Alternatives, who battle racism and oppresion and fight to take control of the land.
Out of the darkness emerges a single man: a scientist known as Huxley, who has created a powerful new energy source - the Lunarites.
The war rages on over this new energy source which can mean the survival and death of one of the races...
Who can I play as in Huxley?
You can play as either the Alternatives or the Sapiens. There's a third race known as the Mutants, but they are non-player characters who add an extra element of battle to the game.
Is there any difference?
Right now, there is no play difference between the Sapiens and Alternatives aside from the story-related differences. The Sapiens are normal humans and the Alternatives have been exposed to radiation and has mutated them.
Is the combat non-stop?
No. At some point you're going to need to take a rest, and when that time comes, you can go to your factional home city.
What's a factional home city?
Factional home cities are zones where players can stop the action for a bit, talk to others of their race, strategize, and even recruit. Inside the city there are shops, apartments, guild halls, and various other buildings. The home city for the Sapiens is known as Nostalonia and for the Alternatives it is Eska.
How does transportation work?
When you begin the game, you'll stay on foot just outside your home city taking care of several easy baddies. As you progress through the game you'll move farther from the city taking a low-level train. Farther on you can have access to a high-level train which will get you different places. You may even buy your own vehicles such as motorcycles, trucks, APCs or gunships.
Can I play as a female?
If you are female or want to satisfy a desire to be one, you can be a female according to several screen shots with female characters in them.
Is there customization in the game?
Yes. There is plenty of it. If you join a Guild, their Guild Hall can be altered and customized, your own home in an Apartment Complex can be customized to your liking, as well as your facial features and armor type and color.
So Guilds are in the game?
Yes, Guilds are a part of the game and one of the most important parts of it. Your Guild is almost like a seperate character: as it grows it can even take control of entire city-blocks in your home city or even purchase entire buildings for your guild to congregate in aside from the Guild Hall.
Can I Level Up in Huxley?
Yes. Although levelling up does not increase your overall performance as it does in Online RPGs - such as a higher level can easily kill a lower level if there's a big difference - the levels can allow you to acquire licenses and specializations, which can lead to you being able to operate a new vehicle or master using a new type of weapon. You increase your level through experience points received from battle. Unlike in some online console games, if your performance is bad you will not lose experience points.
What weapons are available for use?
Right now, it's hard to say. Some standard weapons - a rifle and sniper rifle - have been shown, but there are interesting weapons such as chain guns. For now just expect some very strange but very cool weapons to be coming your way.
Does Huxley have Hitzones?
Yes. Huxley has Hitzones, such as if you shoot someone in the head it will do far more damage than proceeding to shoot them in the leg.
