De meeste mensen hebben nu wel gehoord van Double Fine en misschien ook Wasteland 2 maar ik dacht laat ik maar eens een topicje aanmaken voor alle/andere games. al 100+ Kickstarters gesteund (als je vragen hebt stel ze ) maar voor wie nog niet weet wat het is hier volgt.

Kickstarter - www.kickstarter.com

Een site waar je een project kunt starten (Amerikaanse gegevens nodig) en andere mensen om pledges (donaties) kunt vragen. Zet een doel (Bijv. $10.000) en hou een 'verkooppraatje' en daar tegen zetten ze dan rewards neer welke je krijgt voor bepaalde pledgelevels (10, 20, 100 etc).
Wat erg belangrijk is is dat wanneer een project hun doel NIET haalt ze ook NIKS krijgen. Ze kunnen dus niet met maar 10% er van door gaan en dat gewoon op de bank zetten.

Creditcard - Nodig of niet?

De betalingen worden geregeld door amazon. Met een Amazon account en creditcard kun je dus doneren. Maar ook zonder creditcard kan dit.

Zoals ik al eerder zei: Geweldig initiatief. Het is eigenlijk pas sinds Double Fine echt van de grond gekomen, maar dit is gewoon de toekomst voor indie games.

Ik ken inderdaad al een aantal van de projecten die hierboven staan. Daarnaast is er voor de adventure fans nog de Tex Murphy kickstarter die in mei start.

Natuurlijk zijn er naast games nog meer geweldige projecten te vinden die potentie kunnen hebben.

Er zijn alleen wel twee nadelen aan Kickstarter. Ten eerste is het inderdaad enkel mogelijk een Kickstarter project te beginnen met een US recidency of Bank Account. Ten tweede gaat 10% van het bedrag naar Kickstarter en Amazon (allebei 5%). Dit is bij grote Kickstarter projecten wel erg veel geld..

Tot nu toe heb ik overigens alleen nog Double Fine gesteund, maar ik wil ook wel Jane Jensen pledgen. Die Double Fine backers forums zijn wel tof. Daar laten ze je best wel goed zien waar het geld heen gaat, en in welke verhoudingen dit gebeurt.

Muziek wordt gedaan door Austin Wintory (Journey (PSN)), Sound door Kpow Audio (L.A. Noire), animatie en cinimatics door Powerhouse Animation en ipad en Linux worden in de toekomst ook ondersteund.
En als je nog geld overhebt er is een nieuwe $800,- reward.

 

Het is een super handige tool om aan uitgevers te laten zien dat er geld te halen valt.

Gaaf concept. Alleen heb ik een vraagje:

Ik geef 50 euro aan zo'n game ontwikkelaar bijvoorbeeld, omdat ik de game erg dope vind en hem graag wil spelen. Wat nou als die game developer straks zijn doel bereikt heeft, maar de game niet af komt en niet uitgebracht wordt?

En nog wat:
Wat als ik voor 20 euro van die rechten (of hoe ze dat daar noemen, even kwijt. ) koopt dus zeg maar. Maar als ik dan eenmaal ingame ben, dan heb ik helemaal niks van ze gehad. Hoe wordt dit gedaan?

 

Dan heb je gewoon pech.
Je moet ook goed kijken wat een project is en wie er achter zit. Alle updates bekijken en desnoods de makers een bericht sturen. Veel updates welke duidelijkheid verschaffen in het proces van bijv. de game zijn ook altijd handig.
Heb zelf al een DVD en een boek thuis ontvangen van 2 Kickstarters.

En geen idee wat je 2e vraag inhoudt.
