Defining Next Gen Football Gaming


Welcome to the official FIFA 07 Xbox 360 blog! My name is Hugues Ricour, Producer of FIFA 07 on Xbox 360, and I am very proud to inform you that EA SPORTS is redefining football gaming. What does this mean? It means that FIFA is a # 1 priority for EA and that we wanted to answer your most important requests for Next Gen offerings:


* Responsiveness and a great feel
* Athletic motion and a realistic simulation
* Football Intelligence and variability



This is why we decided 2 years ago to rebuild a completely new football game engine. It is our biggest investment in the football business to date. Developing this new generation technology took us more than 100,000 hours; the equivalent of 66,700 football matches played back to back. We firmly believe that it will set new standards and it already opens many doors for next gen gameplay.

This new technology powers FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 and is a combination of:


* A revolutionary Animation Engine
* A new physics engine that manages player biomechanics and ball behavior
* A new data driven AI system that reproduces human decision-making



This is the start of a bright future. The new FIFA engine will do for gameplay what Fight Night did for graphics on next-gen. Our goal on next-gen is to blur the line between reality and the virtual world.

The first element was developing an animation tool called ANT which allows us to create player movement and behavior that you have never experienced before. Authentic motion and athletic performance are possible due to the real time calculation of realistic human biomechanics:


* Momentum: the player movement takes into account the physics of the human body. You will notice the leaning of the body as he is accelerating or turning
* Foot planting shows the real time calculation of the foot positioning and of the body movements thanks to the technology Inverse Kinematics.



We also developed a better "FEEL" mainly driven by a great responsiveness:


* The next gen player is more responsive as he can interrupt his animations at any time and then blend into the next animation.



It creates unprecedented realism for how the players move around the pitch, how they behave and how they respond to game situations and other players. It also helped us eliminate things like foot sliding and unrealistic stops and turns. Creating this level of authentic athletic performance is only possible with the power of next gen hardware and is really a first for sports games. The key is that it really supports the gameplay as it gives to the gamer in real time the exact information to react and make the right decision. It gives context to the action.Our philosophy is that your first experience with FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 is as important as the 200th match. During your first experience, you will discover that:


* The motion reacts to the control inputs with accurate human biomechanics
* You will also quickly notice that the ball is alive! It is no longer attached to the foot like an elastic. The reason is that with this new engine, the ball is not baked into the animation any more.
* For years, you have asked us to focus on the realism of the ball. You will see that the ball is driven by realistic physics: it has curve, spin, etc ...



As a result, you will need to relearn how to play FIFA, to discover the new and advanced controls. As you play more games, you will discover the depth of the new engine; strategy, tactics, intelligence!

In fact, the power of the Xbox 360 enables us to apply all the key algorithms of the engine to all 22 players in real time. One of these algorithms is our new AI system. Our new AI architecture includes a decision layer that takes into account what happened before and what could happen after the action. This gives us accurate context and reactions at the right time. The 22 players now have a brain. So as a result: the game is non-deterministic and each situation is unique.

We also focused on player individuality: Each player now has 35 unique attributes and traits amongst 45 different behaviors. A trait is a tendency e.g. shooting from far out. We will talk more about this in the next blog entry!

As you play, you will also witness how beautiful the game looks. In previous generations of consoles FIFA has always been a beautiful and authentic game. For the Xbox 360 versions the visuals and presentation are once again stunning. We are passionate about this sport and want to show it!

Another important goal was to add depth into the game. So we developed game modes to:


* Challenge you: Challenge Mode
* Immerse you in the real world of football: Manager Mode
* Enable you to have fun in multiplayer: Lounge Mode

word dood hard, ga em standaard hale..

 

heb hier thuis fifa 2007 liggen voor de 'gewone' xbox. Ik ga hem vanavond ff checken. Was fifa fan totdat ik een paar keer pes had gespeeld. Nu ff kijken of deze editie mij van gedachten kan veranderen.

Tjah, dat is de producer die het zegt heh! Het klinkt gewoon TE mooi om waar te zijn. Ik hoop daarentegen WEL dat het waar is, maar ik heb mijn twijfels.

Als de demo de 13e komt, dan ben ik de eerste die hem downloadt (tenzij ik op me werk zit.....).

 

ik hoop dat er weeromstandigheden in het spel zit want tot nu toe is er niks over gezegt

 

In de pc versie heb ik eigenlijk alleen regen meegemaakt, maar dat heeft wel invloed op het spel, dus das wel mooi. Maar sneeuw ofzo nog niet niet gezien

wat vinden jullie er van ?

 

Wow, dat ziet er goed uit zeg!
De animaties zijn echt prachtig. Ik weet niet hoe de gameplay is, maar je kunt wel zien dat dit een grote verandering is t.o.v. de current-gen fifa's Of het een verbetering is, moet de demo ons maar vertellen

ik begin toch wel steeds meer te twijfelen tussen deze en pro evo want het ziet er zeker erg goed uit.

 

Er zijn trouwens ook veel nieuwe screens gekomen van PES6 (zie PES6 thread).

De screens zien er trouwens uit als Renders (maar weet dat het ingame is). Als het spel speelt, zoals ze zeggen dat het speelt, dan schaf ik hem misschien wel eens aan.....

 

Zeker, als het een beetje fatsoenlijk speelt dan ga ik hem mss ook wel aanschaffen voor erbij ofzo. Het spel kan onmogelijk voor mij PES vervangen maar voor erbij is het misschien wel grappig. Maar dan moet het echt totaal niet lijken op Fifa 2007 current-gen, want die vond ik niets aan. Grafisch is het echt heel mooi deze game. Op de PC trouwens niet.

Die screens van Fifa voor de 360 zien er goed uit zeg, Maar zoals bovenstaande screen. Dit moet een 360 screen zijn, maar NED clubs zitten niet in de 360 versie..
