The H3F Halo 2 Round-Up, with Sublime, bringing you the build-up to the XL Halo 2 Nationals.
Things are getting more and more heated in the UK as the clocks countdown to November 25th. It seems even the players 4v4 predictions seem to be changing like the weather recently, as players hit peaks and troughs in their form.
With players from SrT, AdR, TSG and UA1 uniting to test their skills in the United States this week. Their teammates are left out of practise, with only the hope that they will return better players for comfort. The practise has dried up for the top 8 favourite teams, but confidence remains high will all players.
AdR seem to be shaping up well in the closing month. With diverse agressors GriPz and Omega sure to pick up tips and tricks from the dominant americans in NY. Meanwhile Company takes a much needed rest from the 4v4 scene, to ensure he gets AdR that first seed by placing well in the Free For All. Team Leader Anthony II is taking this time to gain valuable strategic knowledge from MLG resource "Video on Demand" and rethink AdR's tactical approach.
Recently sponsored TristarGames will come into the tournament with the confidence that they can take that 1st spot. Their past lan experience following EGC, WCG, MLG and TSG tournaments in the past means they come into the tournament as the favourites. The methodical La1 will surely have some tricks up his sleeve to ensure they stay ahead of the pack. Whilst the powerhouse slaying prowess of Lethal and the consistent support work of Ruffell and Skillz will only grow following their NY MLG experience.
The exciting in-game moments are sure to come from the other heavyweight teams, Reissue, Work, Scar Tissue and Trademark. Light-hearted team rivalries are sure to build when any of these teams meet.
Scar Tissue seem to be a hard team to call pre-tournament, with mixed opinions. General public consensus is that scar tissue are four fairly unspectacular invidual players, who form into a solid team unit. Their slow, patient and tactical approach to games could prove hard for the better teams to attack on LAN, whilst they may have closer games with the speedier, less skilled teams. The key lies in whether the attacking work of Ph1lza and Adihash will translate at a competitive tournament.
Newly formed team Work seem to unfairly be coming into the tournament as underdogs, with doubts over some of their players, despite all four players getting very good placements at Tristargames just two months ago. The flamboyant H3avensWra7h seems to be the key player for team work, who look to silence their doubters. My worry is that they place well at tournaments and don't get credit or respect for it, often compared to the US team S1G who "always get top 8 yet noone cares". Hopefully people take notice of their capabilities at XL.
Trademark pair with Work as one of the more underrated teams. Their seemingly "thrown-together" line-up of great free agents is going to be interesting on lan. Boasting 4 of the best BRs in the tournament, they are sure to get a good seed from FFA placings. Team-Leader Karnage will surely keep the team concentrated at the tournament, which will be key to ensure slayers VoO and Silencer do not lose their heads.
Lastly we take a look at Reissue, similar to SrT and Work, there are mixed opinions about their progress. Most believe that they will need a good seed to perform in the 4v4 consistently, due to not having as much competitive LAN experience as other teams. Sublimes recently forged strategies will be interesting to watch, as they look to open up the slaying power of Roman. The speed that the teams play at will surely mess up other teams gameplans, whilst they are often inconsistent in game, and lose concentration quickly, something they will look to build on in the coming weeks.
This has been the XL Build-Up weekly review, with Sublime
