MLG Online Tournaments - Gears of War
1. Tournaments will be Division 1 only.
2. Teams will be seeded into groups for the initial Division 1 tournament randomly.
3. Teams will be seeded into groups for all subsequent Division 1 tournaments based on the top 4 team member's Online Tournament Rank Points.
4. Rank points over the course of each player's last 5 tournaments will be averaged. The average for the top 4 players on each team will be added together to determine the team's tournament ranking.
5. Each Group will contain 4-5 teams.
6. Each tournament will have up to 16 Groups.
7. Gametypes will be scheduled for each round of Group and Bracket Play.
Teams
1. Each team roster for a tournament must contain 1 Captain and at least 3 other players.
2. The Captain of each team can give Co-Captain status to as many teammates as they want.
3. Co-Captains will be allowed to assume the captain's match rescheduling and score reporting duties.
4. Team rosters for a tournament may contain a 5th member who can act as a substitute.
5. No team roster or XBL Gamertag changes may be made once a tournament has started.
6. Use of an incorrect XBL Gamertag will result in an automatic forfeit of the game.
Scheduling and Playing Series
1. All members of a roster will be sent an email notification that includes their next opponent, game types, scheduled date & time, and reporting deadline.
2. All series information can also be found in the Online Tournaments section of
www.mlgpro.com.
3. Captains (or Co-Captains) from opposing teams can reschedule a series as long as the proposed time is agreed upon and lies before the reporting deadline. The new series time must be submitted by both captains to the online tournament administrator in the form of a thread following the thread title format rules in the appropriate forum here.
4. If a proposed rescheduling of the series time has not been agreed upon, the series is required to be played at the default date & time.
5. Some tournaments will run on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule with a default series time of 9 PM EST. Other tournaments will run on a Monday/Wednesday schedule with a default series time of 9 PM EST.
6. If by 15 minutes past the scheduled match time, a team doesn't have enough players to play the games, the incomplete team forfeits the first game. If by 30 minutes past the scheduled match time, the incomplete team forfeits the entire match. Teams must have at least 3 members present in order to play a series.
7. If a team has less than 3 players, they forfeit the remaining games in the series.
8. When reporting a forfeit, the non-forfeiting team should provide a link to a digital photograph uploaded somewhere (see Reporting Results, #7 and #
. The player in charge of taking a picture with his/her digital camera should open the Xbox 360 dashboard and take a digital photograph of the team in a party. The dashboard does not take up the entire screen, showing the player's local time. The remainder of the screen should show at least four members of the team online in one party. Choose the appropriate side, Cog or Locust, so that the Xbox Live gamertags show up in the image. Two separate images with times of 15-20 minutes past the scheduled match time and 30-45 minutes past the scheduled match time should be provided. At least four members of the team should be in both parties.
9. If a player drops from a game, they are allowed to rejoin the party at anytime during the game.
10. If a player drops from a game, the substitute, if any, on the team's tournament roster is allowed to join the party at anytime during the game in place of the player who dropped.
11. If a player who is not on a team's tournament roster joins in the middle of a game, the player must be immediately booted from the game.
12. If a round is started with a player who is not on a team's tournament roster, the team the unregistered player is on will forfeit the round.
13. Series must be played over Xbox Live.
14. All scheduled matches must be played back to back. No warm-up or practice rounds are permitted once the first match of the series has begun.
Host
1. The host must be agreed upon by all participants to be a reasonable host. If a reasonable host can't be found, the best host should be used.
2. Latency issues should be tested before the start of a series.
3. Hosting players should create the match to ensure that they are given host. If the hosting player is set to change after a match, the new host should leave and create a new match to ensure that they are given host for the next match.
Reporting Results
1. Match results must be reported by team captains (or Co-Captains) on the tournament's schedule page before the reporting deadline.
2. Failure to report scores by the deadline will result in a forfeit by both teams.
3. Match results must be reported within 24 hours after the default match time.
4. If both teams report the same results the results will be submitted to record.
5. If only 1 team reports a result, it will be submitted to record at the reporting deadline.
6. If both teams report different results the Online Tournament administrator will review the series and submit the appropriate scores to record.
7. At least one member of each team should take a digital photograph (taken with a digital camera) of the final score of each game in a series, displaying the map, the gametype (Execution), the number of rounds played, the number of rounds won by each team, the players on each team (by Xbox Live gamertags), and the overall winner of the game. Digital photographs should be timestamped.
8. The digital photographs or images should be transferred to the user's computer then uploaded to a free image-hosting site such as ImageShack. The direct URL for each image should be provided in the URL entry fields when reporting a match score.
Protests / Cheating
1. One or more of the following must be present to file a protest:

2. All protests must be submitted using the help desk ticketing system.
3. All decisions made by Major League Gaming officials are final.
4. Any form of cheating can result in a ban from the Online Tournament and all future Online Tournaments.
General Rules
1. No use of the Invisible Man glitch
2. No use of the Invisible Weapon glitch
3. No use of the Chainsaw Yourself glitch
4. No use of the Infinite Grenade glitch
5. No use of the Floating glitch
6. No walking inside walls
7. No shooting while roadie running
8. No leaving the normal boundaries of a level
9. Breaking any rule will result in a forfeit of the game
Group Play
1. Teams will play 1 series against each of the other teams in their Group as either the Home or Away team.
2. Each series will consist of 3 matches.
3. Each match will be played until one team wins 5 rounds
4. All 3 matches must be played even if one team wins the first 2.
5. The Home Team will play as the COG for all series.
6. The Away Team will choose the map they want to host and host that match first. The Home Team will host the other 2 matches.
7. The top 2 teams in each Group, as determined by cumulative won-loss-tie record, will advance to the single elimination bracket.
8. Wins are worth 2 points, ties 1 point, and losses 0 points.
9. At the end of Group Play, cumulative record ties will be broken using the following tiebreakers in this order, head to head record, average total rounds won minus rounds lost, and coin flip. Coin flips will not be used to eliminate a team. In ties of this case, a tiebreaker match will be scheduled before the start of the bracket.
10. To determine seeds for Bracket Play, all teams finishing 1st in their group will be ranked ahead of all teams finishing 2nd.
Bracket Play
1. Bracket Play will be Single Elimination with Best of 5 Match Series.
2. Once one team wins 3 matches, the series is over and no more matches have to be played.
3. The higher seeded team will play as the COG for all series.
4. The higher seeded team will host matches 1, 2, & 5. The lower seeded team will host matches 3 & 4. Before the series starts, teams will take turns choosing the maps they want to host with the higher seeded team getting the first choice.
5. Teams eliminated in Rounds 1-4 of Bracket Play will play anywhere from 1 to 4 consolation series to determine their exact 3rd-32nd placement.
Online Tournament Rank Points
1. Each player on a team earns the total amount of points that corresponds to their team's tournament finish listed below.
2. At least 4 players from each team will earn the points associated with their team's finish. For a 5th player to earn the points associated with their team's finish, they must compete in at least 1/3 of the team's matches.
