Red Faction: Armageddon and Saints Row 3 developer Volition has today revealed the first information about its new, unannounced project. Red Faction: Armageddon is billed for a 2011 release and looks set to take the destruction and heavy-hitting weaponry the series is known for to new heights. In a NowGamer interview, Volition's senior associate producer Dan Sutton spoke about what's next for the studio after Red Faction: Armageddon. "I think all we’ve been allowed to say right now is that we’re collaborating with a high-powered creative talent in the entertainment industry, " Sutton revealed, "It’s going to be a big name and we can’t wait to give everyone more details on this project! This is definitely going to be the most ambitious project Volition has ever taken on."
Nu Amped 4 & Dead or Alive 5 nog. NOT.
Heavy Rain director and Quantic Dream founder David Cage has hinted that his next project could be a multi-platform release. Heavy Rain was, of course, a PlayStation 3 exclusive - but the game's success appears to have given Cage the belief that Quantic Dream's next title can capture a wider audience. "With Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms," he told GI.biz. "Now that we're established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more? There are pros and cons and it's not an easy decision." "We're not looking at anything, we have people asking, and we're seeing different options," he added. "We're really thankful of Sony's support and the relationship we have because there are very few publishers that would have supported Heavy Rain the way they supported us." Cage has already said that he is reluctant to do a direct Heavy Rain sequel but the next Quantic Dream title has already been written. One thing we think is almost certain, however, is that Cage's next idea will retain the essence of Heavy Rain as a game, which, as Cliff Bleszinski has said, seems to have started its own genre.
Microsoft has unveiled its line-up for Tokyo Games Show - and appears to have inadvertently revealed the name of a new shooter The firm described Gal Gun - which will be shown off at TGS later this week - as a '3D shooting game'. It's been developed and/or published by Alchemist - whoever they may be. With a name like Gal Gun, it's highly likely to contain both females and, erm, guns. Of this much we're sure. MS released its TGS line-up to Japan's gaming press earlier today via Xbox's official site in the region - and you can find it below in full. However, MS has since removed Gal Gun from the list - suggesting it's going to be properly 'unveiled' at the show. It won't be the only new Xbox game to be seen at TGS, either. MS has promised us that some all-new Kinect games will be revealed at the event.
