For the past ten days, the Black Ops September 1st Multiplayer Reveal has dominated the gaming news scene. But after the event was over, new information continued to trickle down from Treyarch, via the Official CoD forums as well as from lucky gamers who got to play the game at the reveal. Sadly, a lot of this information has been overshadowed by talk of Wager Matches and COD points. Well, no longer! Here at COD: Black Ops News, we have gathered together all the major information released since September 1st for your convenience!
Big Names for Black Ops
Reznov as he appears in Black Ops.
A few voice actors have been confirmed for CoD: Black Ops, and you might recognize their names. Actors Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight) and Ed Harris (The Flight Director in Apollo 1
have been confirmed to have roles in Black Ops. Gary Oldman voiced Sgt. Reznov in World at War, and it is expected that he will be reprising that role for Black Ops this November. Harris is reported to be doing the Voice Work for a CIA operative named Jason Hudson, who will be a main character in the game’s storyline, though little more than his name is known of this charter at this time.
Playlists!
Treyarch developer and CoD forum user Vahn recently released a list of the Playlists that will be available to players at Black Ops launch in a couple of months. The List is as follows:
Core
1. Team Deathmatch
2. Mercenary Team Deathmatch
3. Free-For-All
4. Domination
5. Sabotage
6. Headquarters
7. Capture The Flag
8. Search & Destroy
9. Team Tactical
HardCore
1. Team Deathmatch
2. Headquarters
3. Search & Destroy
4. Free-For-All
BareBones
1. Pure
2. Classic
3. Team Tactical
Obviously, this list is not 100% final, and may change before the games November release. Also, this list excludes Wager Match game modes. The BareBones playlists feature no Killstreak, Perks, Attachments or Contracts, and Classic features Killstreaks only at 3, 5, and 7. Also, Vahn has mentioned that the “Combat Training” mode will only feature Free for All and Team Deathmatch game modes, as the bots “aren’t quite ready to take objectives, or capture flags.” He hinted this may change in future games.
Enough Customization for you?
Treyarch has stressed from the beginning that they want the multiplayer experience in Black Ops to reach new depths of personalization, so every gamer has a unique experience. Now that the games Multiplayer mode has been fully revealed, Treyarch can do more to really tell us what they meant! A big part of the personal Black Ops experience will be the players weapons. Recently, lists have been revealed of weapon camos as well as the various different sight reticles your gun can feature. Camouflages are:
* Dusty
* Ice
* Red
* Olive
* Nevada
* Sahara
* ERDL
* Tiger
* Berlin
* Warsaw
* Siberia
* Yukon
* Woodland
* Flora
Treyarch seems to have named many of the available gun camos based on the locations they presumably resemble, and would be best suited for use at. Available reticles include the smiley face that many people spotted in the reveal trailer, as well as many others, such as arrows, a skull, a heart, one referred to as “Yin Yang” and the Treyarch logo. Colors for these reticles are reported to be green, purple, yellow, blue, orange, and teal.
Note the big yellow Smiley Face on the side of the gun!
Unlocking Weapons
In a final note, some people have been wondering, now that CoD points are used to purchase everything, what is the point of leveling up? Rest assured, it still has plenty of meaning. Before you can go about purchasing whatever weapon you wish, you must first reach a minimum level. This means you will not be able to buy that crossbow right from the get-go, even should you have the required credits.
That should cover most of the bases. Keep an eye out for another article tomorrow talking about a very controversial topic, the Tactical Insertion.
