A new way to experience Pottermore
We are excited to announce a whole new way to experience Pottermore, with Pottermore at PlayStation Home.
We’ve been working side by side with Sony to take a selection of beautifully illustrated Moments from Pottermore.com and translate them onto Playstation® 3’s free virtual 3D gaming platform, to bring you a brand new experience: Pottermore at Playstation Home.
For our readers who are not familiar with it, PlayStation Home is a free 3D gaming community for Sony’s PlayStation 3, where gamers play and socialise with their friends around the world.
Our latest development from Pottermore enables you, as a PlayStation 3 user, to actually step inside Diagon Alley™ and board the Hogwarts™ Express as your own customisable avatar. Once inside these 3D environments, you can also enjoy four new mini-games: experience the mayhem of Book Herding, test your knowledge with a Pottermore quiz, share and collect Pottermore Trading Cards, and take part in an illicit Wizard’s Duel.
If you have a Playstation Home account you’ll be able to actually step inside Diagon Alley™ and board the Hogwarts™ Express as an Avatar, and once inside these 3D environments, experience the mayhem of book herding, test your knowledge with a Pottermore quiz, share and collect Trading Cards, and take part in an illicit Wizard’s Duel.
There’s the choice to customise your avatar with a selection of outfits ranging from uniforms to house robes or more causal wizard attire. And there’s a selection of 14 owls, cats or toads from which to purchase a companion.
If you have progressed past Chapter Seven of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Pottermore.com, and have been sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses, you’ll be able to link up your Pottermore.com account to your PlayStation Network ID and gain access to additional content and spaces.
Pottermore at PlayStation Home arrives in April, and if you’re curious to see what this new 3D experience of Pottermore will be like, take a look at this short trailer.
Charlie Redmayne, CEO of Pottermore, comments: “Pottermore reaches across multiple digital platforms, and our ongoing partnership with Sony has allowed us to forge this exciting connection with Playstation Home, creating the most immersive experience possible within that space and giving users wonderful new ways to explore locations from the Harry Potter stories. Following the successful launch of Wonderbook: Book of Spells, this is another example of the creative collaborations Pottermore is developing to bring the world of Harry Potter even more ingeniously to life”.
We have a separate team working on these new Pottermore innovations so, for those who don’t have a PlayStation account, there is no need to worry as we still have a dedicated team hard at work to bring you the third and final instalment of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on Pottermore.com in the coming weeks.
