Sony had alph and sdk's out 10/14 months before ms ... all these old engine games were port overs from ps4 code. Not one of them have taken advantage of x1 architecture. The reason why x1 has suffered is only due to 3rd part devs not putting there new engines out .. cross platform games. And this also falls on the constraints that publishers have had to face there is 120+ million xbox360 / ps3 and not everybody is jumping straight onto next gen.. the smart studio know that making 360/ps3 games will sell and can fund there next generation games.. like an unofficial kick starter.
Turn 10 is the only dev to have hands on the whole evolution of alpha to final sdk. That is why forza 5 is 1080p 60fps. But even they did not make a whole new engine. They were build one next to the dev time spent on forza 5. Forza 6 will be a huge jump over what was at launch. Horizon 2 will use new features .. but pgr should be getting wispers soon...
Also ms has invested a huge investment in epic .. I would diffently call them 1st party now... also black tusk has three projects in development now. So do not think gears is there one sole focus. Same can be said about 343 and rare has two massive surprises up there sleeve this year and it ant sports
But gears has been in developing stages for well over 10 months now. But nothing is finalised as the "new" engine is getting tweaks to support f-series there will be some hybrid 3rd and fps blending..
And no matter what you hear .. epic's tim was heavily involved in some of Ms x1 architecture features.. He and the crytek crew were constantly involved.. And because of this x1 will really out shine..e3 will blow peoples minds.. no fog .. and no 720p 30fps.. I cant wait till you see tier2 textures. And the fact its not a performance bottleneck on the system.
If you grew up with xbox .. your going to love what is coming. The worst thing for sony is in the playstation catalogue most the 3rd party games licence have expired so any title can be published on any platform so there in its self is a lot of I.p's hd remake or sequel headed our way.
And w3 is 1080p 30fps on both.. this engine has had tweaks not full hw tho.
