Codemasters has
announced that it has "agreed to acquire" Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios, expanding the GRID developer's racing portfolio with the developer's popular racing sim.
As such, Project CARS will join Codies' stable of racing titles, including GRID, the official F1 series, DiRT, and DiRT Rally. Slightly Mad has an enviable racing game pedigree, having developed Need for Speed Shift and Shift 2 for EA, before breaking out on its own with Project CARS.
Under the Codemasters umbrella, Slightly Mad Studios will not only bring along Project CARS, but also an "unannounced Hollywood blockbuster title" the studio is working on. Slightly Mad CEO and Founder Ian Bell will retain the same position, while Frank Sagnier will remain Codemasters CEO.
