2K Games has announced that Sid Meier's Civilization VI will be receiving a second season pass later this month, with the 'New Frontier Pass' set to add six DLC packs on a bi-monthly basis. Eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, six new game modes, and more are in the offing for the acclaimed strategy game. Free updates sandwiched between DLC releases are also planned, adding new maps, scenarios, balance updates, and more.
"It’s been four years since we first announced Civilization VI, and the support from fans and players has been overwhelming," said Franchise Lead Designer Ed Beach. "After two giant expansions in Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm, four years’ worth of balance updates and more, Civilization VI has grown into the flagship title for the series."
The Civilization VI New Frontier Pass will cost $39.99/£32.99, and will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Each DLC pack will also be available for separate standalone purchase, with the first batch of content arriving on 21st May 2020. It's the 'Maya & Gran Colombia Pack', and will add new leaders from each civilization, a new Apocalypse game mode, new City-States, Resources, and Natural Wonders.
Purchasing the New Frontier Pass for Civ VI will also grant access to bonuses like the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine De Medici Persona Packs, each boasting a new take on a favourite leader, like 'Rough Rider Teddy' and 'Magnificence Catherine'. Both Persona Packs will be available alongside the second DLC pack in July 2020. Check out the Civ VI New Frontier Pass trailer and roadmap -- which runs into March 2021 -- below.
