Visual Evolution
The lighting in the Zone has been changed significantly. The sun still shines brightly outside, but it now plays differently across the environment on the ground — shadows and reflections included. We've also improved indoor lighting to feel more realistic, both inside buildings and in underground locations.
On top of that, we've reworked the landscape and foliage to look more natural, and fixed hundreds of issues with levitating items — along with other miscellaneous bugs that felt like anomalies were turning up in the wrong places.
A-Life updates
A-Life now simulates more believable behaviour — the Zone isn't one constant gunfight. It's a lonely place where life carries on by its own rules, and every encounter or firefight is the result of stalkers and mutants simply doing stalker and mutant things.
In practice: living creatures now have more places to be. More campfires, bus stops, and other points of interest are contested between stalkers and mutants. Stalkers across the Zone loot the fallen all the time — not just when you're around to see it.
Customize your survival experience
Want more hardcore fights but a less punishing economy? Or do you find dodging anomalies far harder than managing coupons? With this update, we're introducing a "Custom Rules" difficulty — tune the settings yourself to craft your ideal experience.
New weapons and scopes to use
New toys keep getting smuggled through the Perimeter wall somehow — like the Arev (AR), GP3A (DMR), SKP (DMR), and Fora-230 (SMG). Better to try them yourself than have us explain how they handle in combat. And somewhere in the Zone, you'll even find a unique variant of one of them.
New PDA page to track your progress
How many bullets have you wasted? What's your weapon of choice? Which mutant is your favourite to run into and put down? From now on, all of this and much more is tracked on your PDA's new "Statistics" page. Track it, share it — it's up to you.
Create your own stories in the Zone Kit!
The Zone Kit — official modding tool for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 — has also received a major update. Newly available tools — narrative scripting, audio, and localization — are all working together, so you can write, voice and localize a complete story mod from start to finish with the ability to save the mod's data.
