Battle Creek
Ideal for 2-4 players. Active camouflage (invisibility) is especially useful in such a small environment. Be careful going for the sniper rifles/rocket launcher, as you'll be exposed. Bases are havens for recovery and collecting grenades.
Know This:
Jump for the sniping position adjacent to the top of the arch to get the rocket launcher instead of climbing the arch from its base.
Rocket Launcher:
On top of the arch.
Sniper Rifle:
Two - one each at the top of the ladders near the creek
Active Camouflage:
In a cave at the end of the creek near the bas of the arch.
Overshield:
Behind the red base, oppostie the teleporter
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage:
None
Health:
Two - in the blue bas, near where the flag spawns and behind the blue base, facing the transporter
Best place:
Atop a base with a rocket launcher.
Damnation
A GREAT MAP for Team Slayer matches. There are plenty of different angles and approaches to the different rooms, and plenty of corners for tense, grenade-strewn face-offs. Just don't fall into the watery ether - it means instant death.
Know This:
You can jupm down from a seemingly innocuous point into the room with the rocketlauncher, thus avoiding the ladders. Your shields will decrease slightly.
Rocket Launcher:
In the alley below where shotguns spawn.
Sniper Rifle:
On the ledge next to the transporter
Active camouflage:
On one of the narrow, angular ledges above the shotgun area.
Overshield:
On one of the ledges facing the waterfalls.
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage:
None
Health:
In both rooms that lead to the shotgun area and in both bases.
Best Place:
Staying around the active camouflage lets you attack a variety of areas.
Bloodgulch
TOP ARENA for Capture the Flag and Team Slayer. The sniper rifle reigns supreme here. If people are using vehicles you'll need the rocket launcher, wich is in the middle of the arena, painfully open to attack.
Know This:
In Team Slayer, cover a colleaque as they head into the hills with a sniper rifle. Wherever battles escalate, they'll have rich pickings.

In the middle of the map, by the bush

On the roof of each base

Overshield:
In the cave system on the left, as you face the Red base
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage
On a grassy knoll in the middle of the map.
Health:
On the roof of each base.
Best Place:
Loads of great sniping spots. Find one for yourself.
Sidewinder
The BIGGEST map in the game, Sidewinder comes into its own with four or more players. Sussing out the route throug the teleporters is crucial. Venturing into the middle on foot isn't recommended - there's nowhere to hide.
Know this:
Pays to keep on the move here - stay away from the middle. Sniping is the key to succes.
Rocket launcher:
On the ledges along the outer edge of the map
Sniper Rifle: Top floor of each base
Active Camouflage:
Ín the passageway with the barrier.
Overshield:
In the passageway with the barrier'also on the raised rock at the top of the horsehoe. Going for the second of these two is dodgy, as you're left wide open to attack.
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage:
None
Health:
On the lower floor of each base.
Best place:
Drop down from the open first floor front of a base onto the entrance below and you can snipe in relative safety - most players tend to focus on the base window, as shown in the two screenshots above right.
Boarding Action
SET ON TWO open sides battle cruisers facing each other in space. Plays better than four players. Multiple floors mean that motion detectors aren't so useful. Transport between the ships frequently
NB: The below locations describe all items as seen when looking from the other ship.
Know This:
Scopend weapons (sniper and rocket launchers) are a must.
Rocket Launcher:
Both ships second floor, bottom of the ladder behind the open window.
Sniper rifle:
Both ships: Fifth floor, far left
Active Camouflage:
Blue ship - First floor, bottom right.
Overshield: Blue ship - First floor, left-hand side
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage
None
Health:
Both ships: First floor, bottom left; second floor, middle; third floor, left-hand side.
Best plache:
A few of them - perch on beams off the main floors, where you are less likely to be spotted by snipers. Try it on the beam that juts out of the third floor, on the right of the blue ship (look for a break in the dark grey wall where you can perch). Also, try going on the platform in front of the open window where the rocket resides, on the fourth floor of the red ship. Finally, when you snap up the sniper rifle, drop down of the left-hand side of the ledge and you'll land on the overshield.
Chiron TL34:
THIS MAP, a series of closed-off rooms connected by teleporters, is perhaps the most confusingof alle the arenas. It's one to play on your own for learning purposes - when you've remembered the layout, only then can you stick plasma grenades to enemies in the cramped surroundings.
Know This:
Health packs are plentiful compared to many maps. Make the most of t hem and don't enter a fight without recovering full healt.

Best Place: All you can do is keep moving and concentrate on the motion detector.

Know this:
Stay on the move to survive. Camouflage is key there.

On the catwalk leading from the blue base.
Sniper Rifle:
On the platform in the middle of the map - jump onto it from the highest catwalk.

In the corner near the rocket launcher catwalk.
Overshield:
None
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage
On the highest platform, in the middle of the map.
Health: Two - in the trench, in the walkway with the open windows.
Best Place:
Cover the rockets and camouflage from the top of the blue base. Sneak up and melee attack players already there.
Chill Out
Know This:
From the ground floor, you can fire into the window on the corridor that leading to the rocket launcher.
Rocket Launcher:
On het lower beam of the room with the ramp.
Sniper Rifle: First floor, in the room that leads to the broken bridge.
Active Camouflage:
Same room as the sniper rifle
Overshield:
Ground floor, in the passageway leading from the main room.
Alternating Overshield/Camouflage
None
Health:
First floor: by transporter. Ground floor: room by overshield, main room by transporter, room next to rocket launcher room.
Best Place: On the beam with a full rocket launcher.
Derelict
Know This:
Hide behind the emplacements around the rim of the top floor when you need to reload. It'll protect you form all but a perfectly aimed rocket or grenade
Rocket Launcher:
In a side alley off the top ledge.
Sniper Rifle:
On the top ledge.
