Customer: I'd like to purchase a new game console.

Salesman: Certainly sir. Right over here we have the Sony Playstation 2 - top of the line.

Customer: Yes yes, that's the one that my son's pimply-faced pre-pubescent gangsta friends say is the best.

Salesman: Many children feel that way. We'll get you set right up. How many memory cards would you like?

Customer: Memory cards?

Salesman: Yes, sir, so you can save games.

Customer: You mean the PS2 doesn't have any internal storage?

Salesman: Nothing permanent, sir, you need to use memory cards. But it's the only console with Final Fantasy!

Customer: But the Xbox...

Salesman: Yes, sir, the Xbox comes with a built-in hard drive, but it doesn't have Grand Theft Auto. If you can only wait a few months, there will be an add-on hard drive kit available for the PS2.

Customer: Oh no, I can't wait. My son wants a console for his birthday next week and his little friends say the PS2 is the way to go so...How many memory cards should I buy?

Salesman: Well you should probably have one for each player, so each person can have their own save games.

Customer: I see. Well I have three kids, so I'd better get four because I'll probably play it too.

Salesman: Very good, sir.

Customer: Oh, and I need the cables for Dolby Digital.

Salesman: Will you be using the PS2 for DVD movies?

Customer: Uh, no, I already have a DVD player.

Salesman: Well, sir, the optical audio cord won't do you any good, as the PS2 doesn't support Dolby Digital sound in games. It does have Dolby Pro Logic, of course.

Customer: But the Xbox...

Salesman: Yes, sir, the Xbox does have built-in hardware support for Dolby Digital, but the PS2 has hundreds of old PS1 games you can play.

Customer: Hmmm. I don't much care about PS1 games, but the
aforementioned pre-pube twerp insists the PS2 is the best, so I guess I'll pass on the optical cable and make do with analog sound. I definitely want the high-definition adapter though! I bet games look great in high-definition.

Salesman: Yes they would, sir, but the PS2 does not support HDTV for games.

Customer: But the Xbox...

Salesman: <sigh> Yes, sir, the Xbox does have built-in support for HDTV resolutions, but you have to remember that the PS2 has Final Fantasy.

Customer: No high-definition games, no Dolby Digital?

Salesman: No, sir. Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto.

Customer: I'm trying to contain myself...

Salesman: I understand completely, sir.

Customer: Well at least I'll be able to enjoy broadband gaming with the add-on online gaming pack. I KNOW the PS2 has that. Right?

Salesman: Yes sir, in just a few months. Unfortunately, however, it will not be a guaranteed broadband service.

Customer: What? The Xbox...

Salesman: Yes, sir, the Xbox does have an included broadband adapter and yes, the Microsoft online service will be broadband-only, low-lag, feature-rich gaming. The PS2 network adapter supports dial-up connections and, frankly, given the...shall we say 'limited'...faculties of most PS2 owners, Sony expects its customers to be perfectly happy with the high pings and interminable lag they're used to with PC games.
I mean, they do have Final Fantasy.

Customer: QUIT WITH THE GODDAMN FINAL FANTASY, OK?

Salesman: Sorry, sir. We've been told by Sony to push Final Fantasy as the PS2's main selling point.

Customer: <deep breath> Can you tell me what, exactly, is the basis for said pre-pubescent freaks' insistence that PS2 is the best console?

Salesman: And I can't mention the F-words?

Customer: Absolutely not.

Salesman: Did I mention the huge library of PS1 ga...

Customer: YES! Move on...

Salesman: Hmmm...did you know it stands vertically?

Customer: Be still my beating heart. Anything else?

Salesman: Uh...the controllers are small, perfect for small hands.

Customer: I'm about to smack you upside your yead with a very BIG hand if you don't get real.

Salesman: <breaks down sobbing> I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! It's just that we can't GIVE PS2 units away and management is breathing down our necks to sell more of them and that damn Xbox just sits there being so...superior. <prancing around the aisle> "Oooh, look at me I've got a hard disk!" "Check me out, I've got built-in broadband and Dolby Digital support" <rips open MS HD A/V pack> "Hook me up to your HDTV!" <sticks component cables in his moutn> "MFFF! Hmfff fffrfbbm mmfmsmmf!"

Customer: <looking around nervously> Ok, buddy, just calm down.

Salesman: <stops prancing, nods at customer with component cables swaying gently>

Customer: If you were buying a console, would you buy a PS2?

Salesman: <shakes head almost imperceptibly, with a wild-eyed glance towards an obvious two-way mirror next to the "Manager" office door>

Customer: Should I perhaps look into something a bit more green?

Salesman: <nods, whimpering>

Customer: <pats Salesman on shoulder and gently pulls cables out of Salesman's mouth> There there...you did the right thing, son. Remember, always give the customer the facts and let them decide.

Salesman: <shaking> Yes, sir...

Customer: It's the only way you'll be able to sleep at night. Now then,which Xbox games do you recommend?

Salesman: <perking up> Oooh! Have you seen Halo? Your son's punk-ass friends won't know what hit them...

echt niet, bij mij is het juist andersom: ik probeer iedereen een Xbox aan te smeren, maar uiteindelijk zijn er zoveel dombo's die dan alsnog een ps2 kopen omdat hun vriendjes er allemaal eentje hebben en dus denken dat die beter is..... ]:-

Gelukkig lukt het in veel gevallen wel om mensen die voor een playstation komen toch met een zwart-groene doos naar huis te laten gaan

 

Zo ongeveer ging het ook toen ik van plan was een xbox te kopen.
Ik zou als een ps2 een harddisk had een ps2 gekocht hebben.
Maar die had ie ni .
En als ik iets haat zijn het wel 8 mb memory card voor €49,=
