    Graphics:

"Brute Force is pushing the boundaries of not only co-op play, but also the Xbox hardware. Frankly, this is already one of the best looking Xbox games yet, and that is far from an easy feat to accomplish. And there is no other game that makes better use of the built-in Ethernet port, without having online play, as well as Brute Force. With downloadable content and a system link mode that must be experienced to be believed, it is games like this that only the Xbox can make a reality. Why Brute Force will not not fail. "

"The Xbox is capable of producing some breathtaking graphics, as we've seen in a fair number of games already available for the system. But rest assured when we say, you ain't seen nothing yet. "

"Forget subtlety. From the mesmerizing front end to the ravishing in-game visuals, Brute Force is far and away the best showcase of the graphical possibilities capable on the Xbox. Going through a laundry list of special effects and features, one would be hard-pressed to leave a checkbox unmarked. You want high-res bump mapped textures on the characters and environments? How about character models that seem to have more polygons and animate better than you do? And what about an abundance of hypnotic particle effects that are infinitely more fascinating to watch than the latest reality television show? You'll get all this and more when playing Brute Force. The game looks that good.

Of particular note is the rag doll physics system implemented in the game. Bodies twist, bend, and react realistically to the environment. There's little that's more satisfying than sniping an opponent on a bridge and watching his body curl over the rail and crumple to the ground in a bloody mess. And if you're one of those gamers that takes no chances, you can head over the body and pummel it with more bullets, and watch the corpse convulse from the sheer force of your bullets. Nice. "

"All the graphical detail must come at a price, right? No, actually. We won't lie and say that we weren't even a little bit skeptical. We were. Early builds of the game suffered from framerate problems that seemed as if they would never be fixed. Now, after much optimization and tweaking, Brute Force runs at a rock-solid 30 fps. Sure, 60 fps would be even better, but 30 is nothing to scoff at, especially after factoring in the large, intricate environments, the multitude of enemies and explosions onscreen, and the sophisticated AI of both your teammates and the opponents. "

    Gameplay:

"As a whole, the system is extremely easy to use and becomes second nature after only a couple of times of use. Where things do become tricky is keeping track of all your teammates. If you tell a teammate to hold their position, they will stay there regardless of how much progress you are making in the level. As much shooting and action as there is in Brute Force, there is just as much, if not more thinking and strategy that must be considered when tackling the levels, though you could just try the run-and-gun approach. This depth and open-ended gameplay goes a long way in making Brute Force feel less linear in design while simultaneously catering to a variety of player's gaming styles. "

    "

Also, along with being able to go through the campaign with up to three of your buddies, a deathmatch mode (squad-based or single characters) is included. Deathmatch mode supports up to eight human players and eight computer-controlled characters. How does this work? Well, let's say you have four Xboxes and televisions. You can then have two friends on each Xbox commanding their squad of four characters (2 being controlled by CPU) in a squad deathmatch game. Better yet, the ability to switch between characters on the fly remains intact. There are a number of ways to set up a deathmatch game, so use your imagination.

Far from a cheap add-on or tacked-on extra, deathmatch play is, simply put, a blast. There are roughly ten maps included in the game and twenty playable characters, though all of the characters excluding Tex, Brutus, Flint, and Hawk (who, by the way, can all use their beserker abilities during DM) are initially locked. The locked characters include mostly enemies from the game, and it is unknown what, if any, special beserker abilities they might have. The deathmatch-specific maps are well designed and battles can get a little, how do we say, hectic. There is a wide selection of weapons and power-ups on each map, our favorite being the rolly bomb, a round, ball-like bomb that bounces away and creates a huge explosion when coming in contact with an opponent. "

"In a team-based tactical shooter, particularly one where additional players can join and leave a game at any time, the importance of having intelligent friendly AI cannot be stressed enough. From our time with Brute Force, the AI, both enemy and friendly, seemed to be at the very least on par with games like Half-Life and Halo, and that is a compliment in every possible way. "

"Since its announcement, Brute Force has had the weight of Halo on its back, and that is no easy pressure to withstand. With the amount of hype surrounding Brute Force, expectations levels are through the roof, as is the skepticism of the public about Digital Anvil's ability to deliver on its promises, let alone live up to the high standards that Bungie set. After spending some quality time with the game, we can confidently say that Brute Force may in fact be the best thing on Xbox since Halo, and that, my friends, is the brutal truth. "

Dit heb ik gevonden het is niet het hele artikel maar het is tenminste wat
