Formula One 2003 Hits Europe In July
Having found exclusive license to the World Rally Championship to its liking, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has gone even further, purchasing a four-year exclusive license to the FIA Formula One circuit. This year's Formula One 2003 for PlayStation 2, due for release in Europe this July, will thus have the most up-to-date selection of season statistics, drivers, team liveries, and circuits for fans of the world's fastest motorsport.
Along with all the expected licensed trappings, Formula One 2003 also incorporates the newly-restructured F1 race weekend schedule, with one-lap qualifying on Saturdays following initial qualifying on Fridays. It will also have all the appropriate real-life TV commentators in the language of each gamer's choice -- Britain's Martin Brundle, German Heiko Wasser, Finn Matti Kyllonen (for all of Kimi Raikkonen's hometown fans), and so on.
As per usual, Sony also promises significant advances in damage modeling, car physics, and artificial intelligence. The latter in particular is to incorporate individual drivers' personalities and potential failings, so that the computer-controlled cars won't necessarily race inhumanly perfect laps.
Check out the accompanying screens, and look forward to potential news of an American release later in the year.
Damn, toch nog een f1 2003, wieho!
