Enclave, a hack and slash adventure set in a world full of magic, monsters and mayhem… Graphics: The graphics in Enclave are, put simply, FANTASTIC!! The textures are smooth; the characters are in no way blocky, nice touches such as arrows sticking in your shield add flavour and the fabulous lighting effect makes playing the game like watching a classic horror movie. Overall the Graphics are simply amazing. 10/10 Sound: Again the Sound in Enclave is another high note. Voices are very well acted, screams echo out of the darkness, putting you off for just a second (which is enough for an assassin to stick an arrow in your leg). The music blends seamlessly with the action at hand again making it seem as though it's a classic horror movie you are watching rather then playing a game. Explosions thunder in the background, they are synchronised perfectly and placed at just the right moment to shock you. Even when there is a lot happening (and that’s almost all the time) it never faults, and if nothings happening then GET READY FOR SOMETHING BIG. The audio is top-notch! 9/10 (would be a 10 if you could play your own music) Gameplay: Now the most important category. The game play is, at best, like 3d Diablo. What may first seem like ''mash the buttons and I'll kill this snotling'' soon turns into ''move my character diagonally south-east to place my shield between him and me to protect me from his swing. Now with his guard down counter-attack with a quick side step to the west, as to have a broad attack arc.'' Add to that the sheer amount of weapons and different attack styles of them and you have yourself a respectable, tactical and most importantly fun fighting system. And that’s just the close combat! Throw into the cooking pot magic, shooting AND throwing weapons and you got many different tactics to play around with. Did I forget to mention that there are loads of classes which each have there own specialised weapons and different strengths and weaknesses, which add yet more tactical game play into the equation? Well you won't forget it when your playing, that’s for sure. Some levels seem to be built around one type of character (the ruined temple, for example, around the huntress) but the majority of levels can be conquered with any available character with any weapon (and the different style they attack in) as long as you play your cards right. There really is no end to how a level can be done and how many different tactics you can employ to do it with. There is something for everyone here. The main problem with the game play is the controls, the camera and the AI. The first two are overcome with practise but the third one makes some situations a little too predictable. Unlike Halo, playing the level with the same character in the same style does not make the enemy react differently. This can lead to a simple ''progression by perseverance'' through the levels, but if you enjoyed a level and would like to see how it plays with a different character there is nothing to stop you doing so. Gameplay is, as always, the main reason to play a game and ENCLAVE seems to be built around gameplay. 9/10 Life Span: Lots of missions for both good and bad sides, 6 characters each side as well as secret characters AND separate playing modes (such as survival); you do the math… 9/10 Overall: 9/10 A game worthy of any collection, a joy to watch, listen and most importantly play.
