Thanks to IGN Sports for its interview with Visual Concepts boss Greg Thomas regarding Sega and EA's entries in the Xbox sports game market. Thomas, whose Sega-owned company produces the ESPN Sports series, reveals of the Xbox versions: "Last year we had to be in [Microsoft's] closed network. This year, they're introducing something called LSP (Live Server Protocol) that enables us to run our own servers. " Following Microsoft's cancellation of its 2004 XSN Sports line-up for Xbox, he muses on Electronic Arts' possible, long-delayed adoption of Xbox Live for sports titles, noting that LSP "...allows you to use your own servers. So if that was EA's problem, then they can definitely be on Xbox Live this year. But if they had a different problem, a billing issue or a revenue concern, then that hasn't changed." He ends by predicting of EA: "we're clearly expecting them to be on Xbox Live by the end of the year." eindelijk ,werdt tijd en wordt gaaf, denk aan titels als Fifa , Ssx etc. etc. op Live.... het betalen voor evt. hun servers is afwachten. maar dit jaar zal het toch (hopelijk) werkelijkheid worden dan. source: games.slashdot.org
Die bewijst helemaal niks, het is niet EA zelf die verwacht dat ze eind dit jaar op Live zullen zitten. "we're clearly expecting them to be on Xbox Live by the end of the year."
Mmm... ik, ben benieuwd wat dat Live Server Protocol precies inhoudt....... hopelijk komt de stabiliteit en continuiteit vanhet Live netwerk daarmee niet in gevaar.....
ja, idd, daar ben ik ook bang voor. Leuk dat EA Live komt maar als dat vervolgnes erg laggie is of zelfs heel Live er 'last' van heeft dan heb ik er ook geen zak aan. Maar hopelijk werkt het goed en komt EA dan eindelijk Live
EA is op PS2 network helemaal niet top. Je hoort overal dat het vaak onmogelijk is om fatsoenlijk een game online te spelen of te joinen. Ben bang dat als EA ook vanalles eist voor eigen netwerk dat dit problemen gaat bezorgen voor het Live netwerk kwa stabiliteit etc...
Jah generals van EA is gewoon een topspel hoor, alleen het mist een beetje diepgang van westwood. Verder als EA online gaat wordt het helemaal niet zo spectaculair vetter, maar het zou wel goed voor de xbox zijn
