Platform(s): Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X Release Date: PC/PS4/XB1: May 25th, 2021 PS5/XBS: 2021 Genre: Action RPG Price: $59.99/€59.99 Player(s): 1 Format: Digital/Physical Developer: Experiment101 Publisher: THQ Nordic Size: ~25GB FAQ: What is Biomutant? BIOMUTANT® is an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action. What do you do in Biomutant? You explore a large open world, allying with any of the six tribes that run the various outposts in the world as you try to either save the Tree of Life or allow it to succumb to the rot plaguing the world. There are also numerous side activities out in the world to discover and mutations/equipment to uncover that will alter your character and their abilities. How long is Biomutant? Depending on how much you engage with the optional content in the game and your overall playstyle/difficulty the developers point to a 25 to 50 hour playthrough. What does my breed selection impact? The six breeds in Biomutant will impact your base stats (health, energy, etc) and the physical appearance of your character. Applying attribute points in the character creature will impact that appearance (smarter character would give you a larger head for example) but note that you can change that appearance *without* impacting your stats early in the game. How important is my starting class? Your starting class is composed of starting equipment (that can also be found out in the world) and class-specific trait(s). How big is the world? 8x8 kilometers that includes the main map and something called the “underworld.” Is there fast travel? Yes, after interacting with a fast travel point you can return there from selecting it on the map. Can I turn off the narrator? You can decrease the frequency in which he speaks (this happens over time normally), but none of the characters in Biomutant talk in an understandable language so the narrator will act as your translator regardless of how you have him set in the options menu. Can I turn off comic book style combat text? Yes, along with map markers and damage numbers. How much freedom to explore the world? The world is primarily open out of the gate, but some areas have environmental hazards that you will need to find gear with resistances to or improve your stats with “Bio Points” if you wish to traverse them. When building your character you will be able to choose one primary resistance at the start of the game that will help mitigate one of those hazards and open them up to you a bit earlier in the campaign. New Game Plus? Yes, you can replay the game (you can also continue playing after you finish the main quest) by keeping your character stats and equipment and skipping the introductory tutorial area. How does Biomutant perform on the various console platforms? (Note that there is an optional 30fps cap you can enable on enhanced and next gen platforms) PS4/XB1: Dynamic 1080p at 30fps PS4 Pro/XB1X: Dynamic 1080p at 60fps PS5 (Backwards compatibility): Dynamic 1080p at 60fps Xbox Series S (Backwards compatibility): Dynamic 1440p at 60fps Xbox Series X (Backwards compatibility): Dynamic 4k at 60fps Are there details on the next-gen release plans (upgrades, save transfers, etc)? No, nothing has been announced for the native PS5/XBS versions of the game aside from the fact that they exist and will be released at some point in the future. Physical release? Yes, there is a standard edition release, a collector’s edition and an “Atomic Edition” available at launch. Ultrawide support? At least one pre-release trailer featured a 21: 9 rendering resolution, but we’re still waiting on final confirmation that the final release supports it. EA Play Pro? Yes, if you are an active member of EA Play Pro you can play Biomutant at no extra cost on PC. Will there be a Switch release of Biomutant? Unknown. There were some earlier retailer listings that pointed to a Switch release, but there has been no news on it since aside from a "Only time will tell" comment in the official FAQ when asked about a potential Stadia/Switch release. When are reviews going up? May 24th at 5pm CEST. MEDIA:
Eurogamer: "It hurts to say that about the effort of a team that tried to work crunch-free and was given an amount of time and creative freedom other developers can only dream of. But the whole game feels like an exercise in adding certain open-world staples, always erring on the side of caution. I've said this before, but even when gaming, more so than any other medium, feels like the place where we gladly accept being served the same things over and over, the safer we play it the more oversaturated the market feels. Biomutant is not a bad game, but it is a mediocre one, and ends up the very thing it tried not to be." Klinkt mij als extreem middelmatig.
Idd jammer. Weer tijd en geld gespaard though. "A recipe isn't just ingredients." - ACG "Scope creep, the video game. - Skill Up EDIT: observaties na een review of twee gezien te hebben. Zwakke combat, lege wereld, goedkoop geluid, slecht quest design. No thank you. Als het gaat om open world games speel ik wel een keer Ghost of Tsushima zodra ik mijn PS5 heb. Daarnaast staat AC: Unity in mijn Ubi download queue om te worden gespeeld binnenkort. Voor een game met kleurrijke graphics zou je ook kunnen wachten tot Ratchet and Clank. Die release ligt ook niet zo ver weg meer (11 juni).
Jammer hoor had geen echte topper verwacht, maar dit valt toch nog meer tegen dan mijn al lagere verwachtingen.
@Zifnap : Ghost of Tsushima. Net uitgespeeld afgelopen week.
Jammer zeg! De sfeer spreekt mij enorm aan. Hopelijk snel in Gamepass.
