BRON: www.tiptonium.com/videogames/reviews/xbox/brucelee.htm Bruce Lee: Quest of The Dragon - XBOX Opinion Posted on July 9, 2002 Written by Tiptonium A cheap, poorly implemented, incomplete Final Fight / Streets of Rage rip-off in a polygonal world. In a nutshell, that's all there is to Bruce Lee: Quest of The Dragon. This game is an all new low for the XBOX system and its supporters. Where should I begin? Well, for starters the control scheme is sophomoric in its implementation. A fighting game such as this demands responsive and fluid control. This game has neither. If I did not know better I'd say that the game was originally designed for use on a PC game using the numerical keypad. Yes, the control is just that bad. Oh, and don't get me started on the haphazard implementation of the combat lock-on system. The graphics. Remember those sweet graphics found in Dead or Alive 3? Forget about it. The graphics engine is a real throwback to days before high end 3D rendering cards. Jaggies, poor textures, its all here. Same on Universal Interactive. Same on Microsoft for allowing such atrocities against the XBOX and to its fans. Can it be that bad for these companies that they must release such garbage in order to survive in the market today? I'm getting a vision…. 1995… the 3DO… Say it ain't so? Could Trip be in control of the XBOX now?!?! Oh sorry, back to the game. Camera angles. Could it be any worse? Sort of reminds me of when David Letterman used to have that Monkey-Cam thing on his show. There seems to be little to know logic when it comes to the view of the action that you are trying to survive in. Sound. Yep the game has sound effects. Oh you wanted more. Bruce sounds like a clucking chicken when he belts out his fighting war cries. Satisfied? Then comes the poor design. Bruce lacks many fighting skills from the onset. Bruce must pick up coins and earn money in order to BUY skills. What?!?! Unbelievable. Still reading? Ok well the premise of this game has Bruce Lee spanning 40 areas in different geographical locations from Hong Kong to San Francisco battling all manner of stereotypical opponents. Bruce Can fight multiple opponents on screen at a time. As you get to the end of each "area/stage" you'll fight a level boss. Earn tokens for happy win good time. Not. The good? If you like the Black Eyed Peas they did some of the music in the game. And here I am stuck with this game. Ah, at least it was just a rental. A rental that I'll be returning early. This is the sort of game you'd expect to find on a dying / unsupported system, one that no one cares about anymore where the companies involved are looking to steal a few more dollars from the unsuspecting consumer. Shame on you Universal Interactive. Shame on you Microsoft. I thought we meant more to you.
