nee ze kunnen niet stuk, maar ze kunnen wel beschadigen. "Project Gotham will feature real time car damage; can you tell us a bit more about how this will affect the game? Garrett Young: In realistic racing games like ours, vehicle damage is a no-brainer. It's been difficult in the past because manufacturers have been reluctant to see their cars damaged. When they saw how damage would be depicted in Gotham -- to augment the realism, not to increase violence -- they were willing to allow us to support vehicle damage. During a race, gamers will notice the damage with sparks, collision sound effects, visible damage to the geometry of the car (dents in fenders, warped hoods, distorted quarter panels, etc.), and realistic scrapes across the side of the car, but your car won't "damage out", won't catch fire, and won't become untraceable.
Moet je dit zienroject Gotham Damage Get intimate with the Gotham damage models, and enjoy a bonus movie to boot! September 7, 2001 Project Gotham's got a lot going for it -- incredible detail, the kudos system, fast cars and detailed replicas of real cities, just to name a few. But best of all, it's one of the few racing games to feature damage models for real life cars. Car companies are incredibly nervous about allowing their highly marketed machinery to explode, crunch, spindle or mutilate, which is why you usually see no damage, like in the Gran Turismo seris, or cartoon type damage like in Beetle Adventure Racing. Microsoft managed to pull off the impossible in Midtown Madness by having real life cars crunch and flip to oblivion, and now it seems to be using its marketing muscle to open the crashable doors for Bizarre Creation's unofficial sequel to the Dreamcast game Metropolis Street Racer. We managed to secure some exclusive screens of Project Gotham's damage model on three different cars, and as an added bonus, nabbed a new movie of the game to boot. Check out crunched bumpers below, then watch the movie for amazing driver detail that will have your eyes popping in shock. Aston Martin Vanquish 0-60: 4.5 seconds Top Speed: 190mph Horsepower: 460bhp The V-12 Vanquish has dispelled any fears that Ford purchase of Aston Martin in 1992 would turn the James Bondy-worthy car line into the next Taurus. Sleek, hand-built, and stylish, the Aston Martin Vanquish will cost you a little over $228,000. Not bad for perfection. Of course, playing races in Project Gotham will cost the car some sex appeal, especially if you're slamming bumpers with the competition, or the local shrubbery. Just see for yourself: Front: Before After Back: Before After Side: Before After Delfino Feroce 0-60: 3.8 seconds Top Speed: 150mph Horsepower: 280bhp So maybe the name of the car means something like Ferocious Dolphin. So maybe it's a little cuter and cuddlier than your average sports car. Once you see this wonder of the world hit the streets, all your criticisms will fade away. Unless you crash it of course, at which point criticisms will be left to the pedestrians laughing at your horrible driving skills. Drive safe, avoid ending up like these shots: Front: Before After Back: Before After Side: Before After Subaru Impreza WRX 0-60: 5.8 seconds Top Speed: 140mph Horsepower: 227bhp All wheel drive, some serious horsepower, and a clean look that lets you get away with murder on the roads. Maybe it's not as curvy as a Viper, but the Subaru Impreza WRX has enough chops to quiet anyone who dares to step in your way. Street racers and young Russian ravers everywhere love this car, and it's about time you did as well. Just treat it with respect, instead of the abuse these poor models have been through: Front: Before After Back: Before After Side: Before After Last but not least, make sure to check out the movie we've included with our damage piece, in three different sizes. Splurge and go for the big one though, or you won't see the amazing details, like the fact that the driver actually reacts to how he's driving the car, leaning, bucking up, and turning his head as he drives. It's not just about fully-detailed rims anymore… it's about style. Look for more Gotham info soon.
