Deze kwam ik tegen op teamxbox, leuk verhaal Ging om reactie tegen al die nintendo en ps2 fanboys die de xbox lopen te bashen Funny how blind many of you guys are. Do any of your europeans have any knowledge about Microsoft? Assuming most of you are from England, let me put it this way. Microsoft has about 1/3rd as much $ as your nations gross domestic product. If Microsoft were a country, it would have one of the largest economies in the world. Microsoft, if it wanted to, could afford to give away well over 1 billion of it's consoles. To actually believe that Microsoft is just going to drop everything after lackluster launches in Japan and Europe is incredibly ignorant. Let me make this clear. Now that Microsoft has entered the videogame industry, it will never leave it. I've recieved much higher education on these matters than most people. I've attended 2 of the best business colleges in the world, and have hands on experience with the inner workings of a couple giant American corporations. And the #1 factor that leads to a business success is money. Xbox is obviously, the newbie. So automatically we will all be hearing blind dismisalls of the console, usually without any actual contact with the product. People are naturally "afraid" of what's new, and feel far more comfortable with what they are familiar with. Nintendo fanboys, i've noticed, fit this criteria almost perfectly. When listing off "great" GameCube games, it's always been games like Zelda, Mario, and Star Fox. Why are they so great? Because you grew up with those characters-- you've had so many positive experiences with those characters in past games that even the sight of their names puts a smile on your face. Now look at it in the eyes of the new generation of gamers, the ones who grew up with Playstation, not Super Nintendo. They see a fat plumber with suspenders and a squirt gun. They see a cartoon elf with pointy ears and no distinction between male and female. They see a fox who wears tight shirts and shorts, and can talk. What the "new generation" of gamers lacks is nostalgia, the only thing that's going to keep the GameCube afloat. I see people say "I like GameCube because there's guaranteed quality", which is the parallel of saying "I'm afraid of change, so I like to stick with what is familiar". GameCube is going to survive off of nostalgia and fanboys, two key categories that will not last forever. Microsoft has neither of these, and is forced to create, rather than continously recreate. Which is why when every Nintendo fanboy looks at the Xbox release list they see nothing. Yet when a good portion of PS2 fans and all Xbox fans look on the release list, they see huge potential. Yes there's plenty of uncertainty with Xbox's future lineup because much of it is so new to gaming industry. But new experiences are a hell of a lot better than sitting where you've always been, playing the same games with updated graphics. But anyway, let me add in a few positives about Xbox's performance worldwide so far. It's launched better than Playstation 1 did everwhere in the world, including Japan. It sold only 4000 units less than the much cheaper GameCube did in Japan on the first launch weekend. By far Nintendo's strongest market for it's last console was the United States, a region in which Xbox has sold faster than PS2 had at this point, and hundreds of thousands of more units than GameCube-- a console which has the advantage of a huge loyal fanbase. Did I also mention that Microsoft has the largest #'s of first, second, and third party developers under its belt? And have you yet coupled that with a console that has by far the strongest graphics, audio, and comes with a harddrive and broadband adapter built in? Once you've done reading the above positive's, toss in the fact that Microsoft has a bank of nearly 400 billion American dollars (compared with Sony's 40 billion, and Nintendo's 12 b.), and a continous profit margin, DESPITE the release of Xbox (It took 3-quarters for Sony to regain profit status after PS2 was released... Microsoft never even came close to a loss in it's launch quarter). Hell, Bill Gates is worth 10 billion more than the entire Sony Corporation. Microsoft is a corporate machine, the richest business in the world, and has been known to singlehandedly destroy entire corporations and monopolize industrys(only to get sued later). Sony and Nintendo have a head start, but believe me... Microsoft's catching up. It could be 5 years, 10 years, or maybe even 15 years. But eventually, Microsoft's going to crush it's oppenents like a bug. And you all can argue with me on this point all you want, but only time will prove me correct-- or wrong...
