Merciless Creations makes sound and texture mods for bf1942. they also modify things like flags, add blood fx, and variations in crosshairs.
the thing that stands out for me are the texture packs for the maps. some these are simply outstanding. battle of the bulge is probably the best example.
last week they released version 4.0 which you can d/l at file planet or anywhere you can find a mirror.
they went all out on this one. the sounds... solme are annoying to me, but some are pretty frickin' sweet.
