New game engine brings Hitman: Absolution to the masses

    Stukje eruit....

"The Hitman games of past have been very hardcore," said Tore Blystad, game director at IO Interactive. "Even though the fantasy of the Hitman universe has a very universal appeal, the games have been so difficult to play, that it's been more of an acquired taste. The biggest challenge that we had with this game was to make it much broader in every sense, so that it was easier to play and more accessible, but still retain a very strong, hardcore side as well. We don't want to alienate any of our fans who have been extremely loyal for so many years."

Everything in the game now is based on real-time feedback within the game engine," said Blystad. "Every action is updating in real-time, which is a change from how we worked before. When it comes to the game's features, we have a separate tech team and gameplay team that work together to ensure the new features work in the game."

"If you attack and enemy from any angle, than we're able to have them fight back, or continue on in a normal state if you ignore them," said Blystad. "There are similar things in games like GTA or these bigger sandbox games, but it's on a much less granular level because we have a very strong focus on the abilities of the characters. You get so close to the characters in this game. They all have names, and they have all some kind of part to play in the story, so that they act as believable as possible is the most important thing for us. It's the most central part of the game

    De rest...

    Dit al bekend?

Hitman: Absolution uses Avatar mo-cap tech, snags Hollywood talent

Hitman: Absolution, the fifth entry in IO Interactive's long-running stealth/action series, will rely on Hollywood talent and the same motion capture studio used for Avatar to tell a more developed story than its predecessors.

While the real details on Hitman: Absolution will have to wait until E3 following the release this week of the debut teaser, a little bit of information has slipped out on how the game is coming together. The planned 2012 release features a cast of “a dozen Hollywood actors” and it will use the same motion capture technology that powered James Cameron‘s 2009 sci-fi hit Avatar, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Only two cast members are revealed in the writeup: Keith Carradine (Cowboys & Aliens), who will play the game’s villain Blake Dexter, and Marsha Thomason (Naomi from Lost), as Agent 47′s handler and longtime confidante Diana Burnwood. Timothy Olyphant starred in the 2007 film adaptation directed by Xavier Gens and a follow-up is in development now, but there’s been no mention of the next movie’s cast. Producer Adrian Askarieh has seen the work being done on Absolution and intends to carry some of “the grit and texture and the character-driven context” into next year’s movie.

The use of Hollywood talent is a move in a different direction for the game side of the series. While there’s always been a story to follow, play basically boils down to guiding Agent 47 through a set of discrete assassination plots.

“There are more central characters in this game than we’ve ever dealt with before and they all have names and an important role in the story, so working with Hollywood talent was crucial to us,” the game’s director, Tore Blystad, said. “It’s important within the framework of the game for players to be able to connect with these characters.”

The motion picture-trained cast is right at home doing performance capture for the game, which is happening at Giant Studios, the same place Cameron used for Avatar. Some of the scenes shot for the game require up to seven actors on the set at one time, along with props and all of the other trappings of a typical film take. The performance capture, like the decision to hire Hollywood talent, will be used in the game to highlight the emotional human facets of the story.

Hitman has been absent for awhile, but it seems that IO Interactive is pulling out every trick it can dream up to ensure that the latest entry in the series lives up to the expectations placed on any other present-day blockbuster video game.

Ben benieuwd.

    REGARDING HITMAN:ABSOLUTION.

IO interactive have recently said on there twitter that they would not show a demo to the public but on the offcial Hitman Facebook page today they have posted this up which actually says now they are going to show a demo to everyone after all…

    Here’s a quote from there page….

“The team is putting the final touches on the E3 demo, which is going to blow everyone away. We’ve already shown it to a few lucky outsiders and the feedback has been everything we could have hoped and more. Absolution is definitely shaping up to be the best Hitman game ever.”

    Schiet niet echt op....

Dit stukje hoorde bij bovenstaand plaatje.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Agent 47 - the bald butcher of Blood Money, the suited slayer of sinners - is coming to E3 2011. Time to mark Sunday, June 5 in the diary.

CVG has just caught wind of a secret little part of Hitman developer IO Interactive's website, calling for our presence at a very special event.

And unless our eyes deceive us, this one's clearly been setup to welcome home everyone's No.1 paid killer. Don't fear, readers. We'll be contacting our 'ICA handler' forthwith.

Hitman: Absolution is due for release next year. Agent 47 will face his "most dangerous contract to date" in the game, according to IO.

It's being built using Glacier 2 - proprietary technology developed by the Denmark studio.

According to publisher Square Enix's official blurb: ""Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth."

    'Notoriously hard' ...dude serieus?

Is wel even wat moeilijker lijkt me.

Reading again on HitmanForums some shit and that dude who owns the site and have visited IO,said that there are going to be forced shootouts lol. I hope thats not true..

maar het zit weer volledig anders..

ampburner said: Wow, some fierce reactions to a single post. People are overracting.

All I'm saying is that you should expect to see a game which is mainly a puzzle game (in the same sense that all hitman games have been puzzle games) in which you will probably encounter some action sequences - like cutscenes.
I never said that there will be force shootouts, indeed, I have not seen any.
I never said that you will not be able to do things stealthily. Just that if you complete the game, start to finish, I expect that you will have a lot of stealth fun, and you will also encounter some action moments. THIS HAS BEEN TRUE FOR EVERY SINGLE HITMAN TITLE IN THE HISTORY OF HITMAN. In fact, Hitman Codename 47 started out as a homage to Hong kong action movies. People should chill.

    Just wait for E3.
