New Tales Announcement Coming Sometime This Summer

Remember earlier last month, when it appeared that Namco Bandai's Makoto Yoshitsumi, the executive producer for Tales of Vesperia and producer for Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia, was about to reveal the next Tales of title in the Famitsu, and it turned out to be an interview just about Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X? According to the webmaster for Namco Bandai Games International, it appears we might know when to expect the announcement.

According to the tweet, which came about after a fan inquired about when the announcement would be after this month's rumor turned out to a bust, the company is still aiming for a vague "Summer" timeframe for the announcement. This means we could possibly wait until September at the latest to learn more information about the title.

With Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X set to be released next Thursday on August 5, a late August or early September reveal might make sense, as the company wouldn't want to hurt possible sales of the title.

 

Bethesda published its line-up for Gamescom 2010, and there are three world premieres in it.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River outed

The new Operation Flashpoint game will be called OF: Red River, CVG has discovered.

According to the online CV of a Codemasters artist, the title will be released in 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

No other details about the game are revealed, but it's almost certain to be a strategic FPS like predecessor Dragon Rising.

That title got a decent critical reception on its release back in October, 2009 - and won the admiration of PC Zone.

Dragon Rising was also a commercial success for Codemasters, reaching the Top Five of the UK All Formats chart.

Irrational’s confirmed the public will get its first sighting of the studio’s new game, codenamed Project Icarus, next Thursday in a debut trailer for it.

It’ll come a day after the game will be shown to US press in New York next Wednesday.​

Arkane developing two new AAA titles; partnering with Bethesda?

Arkane Studios, developers of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements, is working on two brand new AAA titles for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. This comes by way of a recent job listing searching for a Senior AI Programmer to join their team.

The last we heard from the developer came in the form of The Crossing, a PC and Xbox 360 game that was to combine single-player and multiplayer. Unfortunately, in May 2009, Arkane announced it was put “on hold”.

Adding on to the job listing, an Opus Artz (concept art and production design studio based in the United Kingdom) document lists Arkane Studios as one of their clients… in cooperation with two other studios, that is:

Zenimax/Bethesda/Arkane Studios: TBA

Interesting, indeed.

Furthermore, the resume for French game developer Gael Giraudeau lists a fifteen month period at Arkane Studios where he worked as “Project Manager and Lead Designer on a triple A multiplayer [title] still not announced for 360, PS3 and PC.” According to the resume, it’s to be “released in early 2011.”

We’ll see what comes out of this soon, if that early 2011 release date is to be believed.
