Hi guys
I'm from Belgium and still figuring out if I'm gonna get a 50" G10 or a 50" V10. Both are the E version (G10E & V10E). And I'm planning on getting it ISF calibrated after the break-in hours (200) have passed. Do you guys think the G10 can reach the same level of image quality as the V10 (both ISF calibrated)? If so then I basically will let the decision depend on the 24p Smooth Film function.

Difficult question to answer. I think that the V10 will always have the edge because of its colour accuracy. But since the version you have access to has a Gamma adjustment, it may be possible to close the performance gap over the two with this
Wat mij betreft het wachten wel waard vooral de THX functie schijnt enorm goed te zijn!
Hier nog een stuk over de V10
The V10 is out at the end of May, start of June. We really pulled out the stops to get you a review nice and early. Lot's of questions on whether the V10 is worth the extra over the G10.
Easy way to look at it is the G10 is very good out of the box and can be improved slightly with a professional calibration, but the colours are still not totally accurate. If you just want a high quality Plasma with a great picture then go for the G10.
The V10 has a THX mode, which is surprisingly accurate out of the box and because it is set for as accurate as possible for colour, it looks fantastic and accurate. If you want the best possible colour performance and greyscale out of the box (and calibration can't improve a great deal over this), then the V10 is for you.
It would have been nice to have had the greyscale and gamma controls on both TVs, but to get the same level as the THX mode we would also need a Colour management system, where we can calibrate RGBYCM, on the three planes. As this is not there and unlikely on this years models, the V10 offers the best you are going to get at this price point on the Panasonic TVs.
I am talking to Panasonic to raise the concerns over user controls for greyscale and gamma, I will update as soon as I have heard a reply, but as the TVs stand, they are still utter bargains for the price range. Plus we will be pushing them to add a CMS system in the future, but this will have no effect over current models.
