T.G.I.F. will be ransacked by another acronym this week. This Friday, VU Games will be releasing the single-player demo for F.E.A.R., an upcoming game from Warner Bros.-owned Monolith Productions. The developer, who was acquired by WB in August, previously worked on The Matrix Online.
F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) is a spooky paranormal-themed FPS focused on an elite task force sent to investigate some unusual doings in a strange compound. As a new recruit, gamers will be thrown into the fire with an experienced team against unusual enemies led by a psychically enhanced defector. The horror aspect is further compounded by in-game hallucinations ("The walls are bleeding!") and
Shining-like little girls running through the corridors.
F.E.A.R., which is rated M for Mature, is scheduled for release on the PC October 11. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's
Hands-On with the demo, or try it out for yourself this Friday by downloading the file from
GameSpot DLX.
