A Movember to Remember - Huge Update Inside!
"Save the prostates!" While the phrase hasn't exactly been a verbal battlecry around these parts, the sentiment was felt and seen on the faces of our fine Turn 10 Mo Bros. Today marks the end of Movember, the month formerly known as November, a month where a select cadre of brave men at Turn 10 grew moustaches to raise awareness and money for the various cancers that commonly ails the male. The movement, originally started in Australia by a couple of ironic Mo Bros and their subsequent erection of the Movember Foundation, was rallied and championed here at Turn 10 primarily by one of our senior producers Brian Lockhart, who had this to say about the whole campaign. You can find out how much each member of Turn 10 raised for the Movember cause on our Movember homepage.
As a fond parting memorial to the glory that was Movember, we managed to snapshot a Mo Bro moment frozen in time, forever awesome. My excuse? Well, I blame my Asian heritage for my crippling moustache disability. If I tried growing a moustache, it would most likely turn into long strands of hair which I might then want to toy with like a certain racial stereotyped villain in a Hollywood era of yore. And now, you shall enjoy the pic of just some of the Turn 10 Mo Bros below.
Movember was also a busy month for Forza Motorsport 3. I have a bunch of updates/answers/comments for you guys on the state of everything so let's just get into it.
Raise the Storefront Cap! Okay, you spoke up in this thread and we had a nice civilized discussion and, now that the money glitch patch has been released, we've raised the Storefront price cap. You can now sell your Storefront items for up to 50,000 credits. Keep in mind the Storefront is a place you buy and sell layer groups, tunes, and design files. We feel that at 50,000 a pop, there is more than enough opportunity to make a decent amount of credits if your content is good enough. If you want to sell your items for much more money, I suggest you create an overall car package and put it on the Auction House for general bidding and/or buyouts. We will continue to monitor the economy of the game and Storefront activity to see if/when we should raise the price cap again.
Last week's auto-update patch. As a Forza racer, I'm enjoying the driver shift animations in cockpit view. As Turn 10's community manager, I'm loving the fact that we patched up some holes in the game that allowed users to glitch their way into becoming gazillionaires. Since we've always been able to see in great detail everything you've ever done in the game related to credits and how you earn/retrieve your credits in both single-player and multiplayer, we are now actively scouring our userbase for credit glitchers. We've identified just over a hundred players who have clearly used the money glitch, and they will be dealt with swiftly. Our system also automatically flags for us anyone with a suspicious amount of money doing suspicious gifting of expensive cars (or repeated cars) and bidding up unicorrns in the Auction House. Sorry, we hate to be a Big Brother about this whole thing but it's the only way to keep everyone honest. If you can't play by the rules on our servers, you'll be perm banned. And finally, speaking of bans, we're going to clean up the Time Trials leaderboards with glitched recorded times.
VIP cars and you. We've gotten a ton of requests and questions about VIP cars so I'll try to address them all right now in one go here. I know, very ambitious -- but I must clarify for the sake of our collective sanities. Right now, the only way you can become a Forza Motorsport VIP member is to purchase the Limited Collector's Edition of Forza Motorsport 3 (aka the LCE) which comes with a pack-in card that has an Xbox LIVE code you redeem on the Marketplace.
Becoming a VIP member gets you access to 5 of the hottest cars in Forza 3 (you'll still need to buy them from the in-game dealership before you can see them parked in your garage) and a little crown next to your name on Xbox LIVE. On a whim, we decided that it'd be a great way to reward our VIP folks with surprise gift cars from time to time, which is exactly what we've been doing. If you become a VIP member after we've already gifted the cars out, don't worry, you should receive the gift cars soon after logging into our game (i.e., checking out the Storefront or Auction House or playing multiplayer). If you accidentally deleted your inbox message saying that you have a gift car from Turn 10 before you have actually opened the message to download the car, then you have effectively deleted your gift car. We will not be re-gifting to people who have deleted their gift cars so please be careful not to delete any messages without having first retrieved the gift. Given the public demand for VIP status, we are currently looking at whether we should make VIP memberships a separate purchase from LCE.
Some more notes about VIP and LCE. If you have recently purchased a new Xbox 360 and are using the same hard drive as your old Xbox 360, you should be fine. If you're changing HDDs, you should be fine as long as you follow directions and correctly copy over all your files from your old HDD. If you are changing Gamertags, you will lose all DLC content, including VIP. If you rename your Gamertag, you should be fine. If you're using the same Gamertag and you need to redownload the VIP or any DLC pack again, go to your Xbox 360 dashboard, select My Xbox / Manage Account / Download History and choose to re-download your VIP DLC once again. If you delete or abandon your old Gamertag and start a new one, it's impossible to carry over VIP or any DLC into your new account. And finally, if you reside in a country that currently does not have access to Xbox LIVE, your LCE box will not come with any VIP or DLC pack-in codes. If you bought this game anywhere in the world used, chances are the pack-in codes will also not work, unless the previous owner was oblivious.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) we kick off a couple of exciting events. First of all, the Hyundai Foto Throwdown competition officially opens and we'll have full details for you on how to enter and submit your best Hyundai Genesis Coupe photos. There are some cool prizes involved here and you'll find out what those are in the official rules soon enough. Tuesday also marks when we start discussing our next DLC pack, named the Hot Holidays Car Pack. Like I've said before, this one is a doozy and sure to please many of our fans. Landin and I will be doing car teaser screenshot trivia where you tell us the name of the car based on a very difficult/cryptic photomode shot and we'll gift you something cool. Watch the blog space for the car trivia, and watch
http://forzamotorsport.net/hyundai/ for the Foto Throwdown.
Last but not least, SpikeTV is having their annual VGA awards voting and the polls are open. Go and vote for Forza Motorsport 3 for best Xbox 360 game and also best driving game. Woot!
That's all I've got for you on this fine and final day in Movember. Remember, save the prostates!
