There's been overwhelming evidence lately suggesting that the leaked version of Halo 2 is NOT the final game. Let's take a look at this evidence. (THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS IN HERE. NO PLOT SPOILERS EXCEPT GENERAL TALK ABOUT THE ENDING).
Okay, so is the leaked version of Halo 2 the final one? Let's take a look at the evidence.
1) In the pirated version, the battle rifle shoots 3 shot bursts when zoomed in and when zoomed out. At E3, the Bungie guys clearly told us and showed us that the Battle Rifle shoots single shots when zoomed in.
So, did they change it, or is this a pre-E3 version of the game?
2) In the pirated version, there is no recoil on the sniper rifle. In the videos we've seen since E3, there is CLEARLY plenty of recoil on the sniper rifle. So once again, did they change it, or is this a pre-E3 build of the game?
The pirates are fussing about the end of the game. They're saying it's terrible and ends very abruptly as if there is more to the game. They also say there is 16 levels.
Does it sound odd to have 16 levels? And don't you think this game would have a GOOD ending after all of the hype? If this is indeed a pre-E3 build, wouldn't it make sense that only 16 of 20 (perhaps) levels were in the game?
Bungie said HAlo 3 would not be their final project. So, wouldn't they end the story appropriately? Or did MS tell them that they ARE going to make Halo 3 for Xbox 2 so they can mop the floor with Sony's ass?
4) There are only 11 multiplayer maps in the game, according to the pirates. Only 11, including two Halo 1 maps? Hmm, Halo 1 itself had 13...and those were thrown together in under a year. And Hang Em High wasn't brought back? This is clearly a favorite map. One would think Halo 2 would have at least more mp maps than Halo 1.
5) Pirates are claiming the graphics are nothing spectacular. If you ask people who played at E3 to compare the graphics THEN to the graphics NOW, they overwhelmingly say that they've been upgraded. It makes sense to me that this leaked version is pre-E3 and therefore graphically inferior to the real final version we'll be getting on the 9th.
6) Also, some people who understand the programming side of video games are saying that when analyzing these files, it DEFINITELY does not look like a final game. Some are even saying they're positive it's a beta version. To go even further, they are discovering files(?) that say things such as "live_coop" and "syslink_coop" and things to that effect. I thought that was interesting.
