HD DVD vs Blu-Ray

Hoe bedoel je kort en slecht? Heb je weleens de nieuwe Zelda gezien? Die is niet kort en niet slecht. Mario Sunshine was ook niet slecht en Zelda The Windwaker ook niet. Maar aan de andere kant: er zijn ook een heleboel games niet verschenen (GTA serie). Misschien vanwege ruimtegebrek (ik weet niet hoegroot een GTA game is).

 

Was als grap bedoelt. Ik schrok er namelijk van dat er maar 1.5 Gb op zon disc zat. Niks mis met nintendo spellen als je ze leuk vind...

 

Als ze dat doen stap ik waarschijnlijk over naar Sony. Maar zolang is het nog lang niet en het zal waarschijnlijk ook niet gebeuren hoor (games op HD DVD).

 

Je kan er op rekenen dat ze dat niet doen natuurlijk want dat zou een massaal klanten en vertrouwens verlies zijn. Dus het komt allemaal wel goed

 

volledig mee eens, ik heb nog nooit een voorfilmpje(bij een nieuw game dat ik pas heb) doorgedrukt, nog nooit, en zal ik ook nooit doen. Bij games als metal gear solid is dit machtig, zoals jij al zei, gt4, ...

 

Tuurlijk doe je dat niet, meeste niet iig denk ik. Je wil het begin van het verhaal zien wat er meestal inzit of iets anders. Het ziet er vaak mooi uit en is zeker de moeite waard om te kijken. Ik kijk het ook altijd als ik een nieuwe game heb

 

Hier nog eentje ! Kijk altijd filmpjes af.
Maar heb een maat, die ze NOOIT maar dan ook NOOIT kijkt :{ !
Zelfs filmpjes tussendoor, die de verhaallijn kunnen verduidelijken ofzo. Altijd zeer vervelend als je dan een spel SAMEN met hem speelt en hij heeft de controller. Filmpje , FLITS, weg filmpje !

 

Dat begin dus al goed......ook Tecmo klaagde al over het formaat van de DVD voor hun next gen games.

 

Volgens mij maakt het de komende 4 jaar niet echt uit of er gebruik gemaakt wordt van HD-DVD of DVD. De gamecube bewijst wel dat spellen niet veel ruimte nodig hebben. Waarschijnlijk is het grote nadeel dat het extra veel tijd/geld kost op de spellen passend te maken. Het gevolg is dat kleinere developers na verloop van tijd zullen afhaken.

Microsoft kan het wel voorkomen door in latere versies HD-DVD te ondersteunen. Het zou alleen wel zo netjes zijn om de eerder verkochte DVD versies te vervangen door HD-DVDs.

 

het zou me egt niets verbazen als microsoft op de X05 in eens bekend maakt dat ze er een hd-dvd-drive in stoppen en dat ze tegen de developers gezegd hebben dat ze net moeten doen of ze niet blij zijn dat M$ het er niet heeft ingedaan.
En dan looft en prijst iedereen M$ de hemel in en kopen de zeikende PS fanboys in 1x ook een xbox360.

Ik denk niet dat dit gaat gebeuren en het is heel onwaarschijnlijk, maar ik vind het egt weer zo'n publiciteitsstunt van M$
was tegen onnodige replys

 

Blu Ray zal PS3 veel duurder maken

De Xbox 360 zal gebruikmaken van de tegenwoordig goed ingeburgerde DVD. Sony ziet het echter heel anders en kiest voor een veel moderner medium, namelijk Blu Ray. Dit opslagmedium zou in staat zijn grote hoeveelheden data - meer dan tien maal wat op een DVD past (tot 50GB) - op een schijfje te plaatsen.

The Inquirer meldt vandaag dat Blu Ray wel eens een dure grap van Sony's PlayStation 3 zou kunnen maken. Een Blu Ray-lezer zou voor Sony zelf zo'n $100 dollar of meer per stuk kosten, simpelweg omdat dit nieuwe technologie is. Uiteraard worden zulke kosten ook doorverhaald op de koper...

Sony is er nooit verlegen om geweest dat haar PlayStation 3 een dure console zal worden, waarschijnlijk zelfs een stuk duurder dan de Xbox 360. Benieuwd hoe dit gaat aflopen!

 

Ja, idd, dat is een serieus duur grap. Maarja, Zoals ik elders al eens zei, Sony wil dat de ps3 10 jaar meegaat(en ze willen dat blu-ray nog langer meegaat,als standaard disk, ze wil het voor de volgende generatie(na ps3 ) ook nog gebruiken...), dat wil niet zeggen dat de ps4 er pas binnen 10 jaar gaat zijn, maar dat wil zeggen, dat je je ps3 nog altijd in je living kan laten staan, voor films te zien(want Sony wil dat blu-ray de nieuwe standaard wordt, en dat gaat waarschijnlijk ook zo zijn), voor muziek,...
En waarschijnlijk gaat blu-ray een pak langer meegaan dan dvd. De meesten denken dat 50 GB het max is, maar dat is niet, eigelijk is 200 GB het max op een blu-ray schijf.

Maar 100 is niet het max,want je kan nog eens dubbel schrijven ofzo iets, maar ik weet niet hoe dat plaatje juist in mekaar steekt.
Dus wat wilt het allemaal zeggen,dat als Sony hun ps3 gaat verkopen,waarschijnlijk per ps3, Sony 400 euro kost!!! :{ , Dus als ze hem voor 500 euro te koop zetten(zitten daar nog een paar accessoires bij,...) hebben ze niet veel winst(in het begin toch niet). Maarja, de prijs kan ook 600 euro...zijn(maar over de 600 gaan ze zeker niet gaan denk ik).
Dus een duur ding van Sony, maar je kan wel vollop van je hoge resolutie op je tv,...genieten en ...noem maar op.

Toshiba Latest News about Toshiba, the main backer of a next-generation DVD disc format known as HD-DVD, has signaled it will not ship its players based on the technology before the end of the year, leading some analysts to doubt the format's ability to compete with the Sony-backed Blu-ray format.

Furthermore, although some have noted that the two formats both have unique technical merits, it appears Blu-ray may have the more critical backing of both content owners and device manufacturers, as signaled by the loss of some studio support for HD-DVD recently, Gartner Latest News about Gartner research vice president Van Baker told TechNewsWorld.

"As far as the format war, for all intents and purposes, it's over," Baker said. "Blu-ray's going to win," he stated, highlighting the format's inclusion in the Sony (NYSE: SNE) Latest News about Sony PlayStation 3, backing among consumer electronics manufacturers and increasing movie studio support.
Heightening Tensions

Until recently, there had been hope that the opposing DVD format camps -- both bolstered by technology and content companies -- would unify their standards to avoid the kind of market confusion that occurred with the Beta-VHS format fight, which resulted in sunken sales and rentals of both kinds of tapes.

However, recent reports and activity -- including a skirmish over anti-piracy protection and technical superiority -- indicate that neither side is backing down. Despite the almost certain negative impact on the market, both sides seem to be willing to take their chances.

"I think we're going to have a protracted format war," Baker said.
Real Damage

As for the news from Toshiba that the HD-DVD format would not be making it to market as soon as expected, Baker said the impact would be minimal, suggesting that the "real damage" to the HD-DVD format came with the pullback of support from Hollywood studios, half of which were previously squarely behind HD-DVD.

Still, Baker did refer to the HD-DVD delay as another blow to the format, since the time-to-market was among its remaining advantages.

"That was their big advantage -- to be first out of the chute," he said, adding that it is nonetheless no surprise that HD-DVD proponents are scaling back their plans after the studios did the same.
A Two-Format Future?

Baker added that the result of a divided market would be that "nobody buys anything." Consumers may even turn to other technologies, he said. Still, the next-gen DVD -- which will provide more storage and high-definition capability regardless of format -- in general is likely to emerge as the standard for video, according to the analyst.

Jupiter research vice president Michael Gartenberg told TechNewsWorld the last thing consumers want to see this holiday season is competition among different DVD formats.

While they will ultimately determine which format emerges as the standard, Gartenberg said all indications are that consumers will first endure a format war.

"It really looks like it's going to be two different formats at this point," he said. "As much as everyone wants consistency, it's just not happening.

 

Jeb maar MS heeft nooit gezegd dat ze HD-DVD gaan gebruiken...

 

Idd,als blu-ray wint(wat waarschijnlijk is), gaan microsoft misschien achteraf een blu-ray drive in hun xbox 360 steken,maarja, dat is wat ik denk...

 

MS maakt het toch niet uit, zei hebben al patant op de blu ray spelr volgens mij

Samsung to Develop Dual HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc Player

The Financial Times revealed today that Samsung plans to introduce a player that will play both next-generation DVD formats, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

Choi Gee-sung, Samsung's head of consumer electronics, told the Financial Times Deutschland: "We would welcome a unified standard but if this doesn't come, which looks likely, we'll bring a unified solution to market."

Although Samsung is a backer of Blu-ray, the company believes that by supporting both standards will help the consumer: "It won't be simple but you'll see our solution in the coming year. Consumers will be too confused otherwise."

The good news for Xbox 360 owners is that Samsung, in addition of the memory chips, is the provider of the 12X DVD drive used in the Xbox 360, which is developed by Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corporation.

 

Dat is idd nog al goed nieuws maar niet voor de 1e generatie xboxen als dit er al in komt in latere stadia

 

Volgens mij hebben zei daar echt patent op, gaat ff zoeken, niet dat het veel uit maakt, het betekent alleen dat voor elke verkochte blu ray speler een heel klein geldbedrag moet worden betaalt, dat gebeurt nu ook op grote schaal in de mechanica branche dus dat niet echt een probleem
