Although the road may have been initially bumpy, we've been won over by IO Interactive determination and conviction. They've managed to prove to the rest of the industry that AAA games done episodically can work, and can work incredibly well.
Constantly released and evolving live content kept the community interested in the game, and will continue to do so going forward.
We just can't wait until we see what IO Interactive does with Season Two.

Agent 47 is back and better than ever. The first season of Hitman has produced the definitive Agent 47 experience in a world of intrigue, espionage and murder. Not only the best Hitman game ever made, but also one of the top contenders for game of the year.
Twinfinite - 4.5/5
Though, it’s clear from the start that the story is not what you come into Hitman for. It’s a game about its gameplay and the choices afforded to the player, and season 1 delivered near flawlessly. IO Interactive has built a framework that they can keep building on for years to come here, and we can’t wait to dive back into more missions in season 2.
The Sixth Axis - 8/10
Adopting an episodic release format has worked wonders for the Hitman franchise. Where past instalments had me stumbling from one scenario to the next, never fully taking in the levels, the time gap between missions and wealth of added content forced me to explore locations over and over. Taking time to survey your surroundings and the movements of your target before carrying out a deadly string of actions has always been at the core of Hitman, but this episodic game really brought that to the fore.

And now I can talk about the game as a whole. It’s the second best Hitman game at worst, and the best Hitman game at best. The levels, with the possible exception of Colorado, are huge and beautiful, proper spaces that it’s agreeably difficult to mentally map the complete geography thereof. In terms of presentation and scale, nothing else in the series – and remarkably little else in recent blockbuster games, for that matter – rivals it. In terms of stuff it’s brimful too, despite having only a half-dozen levels. It’ll keep you busy, certainly.
