Xbox had a special press event today where select members got play 11 different Xbox 360 titles as well as Xbox Arcade. Impressions are already starting to pop up, and most are good reads.
Engadget - They have the good balanced write up, they didn't like every title the played but really see the promise of the Xbox 360. Additional comments about the event can be found on their
latest Podcast and is definitely worth the listen.
"The graphics and textures of Condemned were amazing, and Need For Speed Most Wanted was one of the most photorealistic games I've ever seen. Project Gotham Racing 3 was pretty sweet, too, the level of detail in each city was mind-blowing."
Gizmondo - A positive article, sounds like they are really looking forward to the media capabilities.
"First impressions: the next four years are going to kick ass. The XBox 360 (and presumably the rest of the next generation consoles) will keep us in our living rooms long past dinner-time, bed-time, and colostomy-bag-changing time. The XBox 360 games I saw, Dead or Alive 4, Project Gotham Racing 3, Condemned: Criminal Origins, and the like, looked excellent."
Gizmondo has a second write up
here.
Kotaku's
write up is the same as the Gizmondo story just with some additional comments.at the end.
GamingSteve - Nice detailed write up, worth reading through. And he liked Kameo
"Kameo: Elements of Power: Considering that this game was supposed to be a launch title for the GameCube, and then was supposed to come out for the Xbox, and then was "retooled" as a launch title for the Xbox 360, I had a lot concerns about this game. But after playing it I have to say that the graphics are most definitely "next gen", the gameplay was lots of fun, and the music fantastic. I think Kameo will herald in the triumphant return of great Rare games."
360hacker.net - Has a game by game blow, but will be posting fuller details on each game soon.
Joystiq is breaking their coverage into multiple stories I will link to each below.
Evil Avatar is also breaking their coverage into forum posts
PC Gamer - No game impressions, but they said they were impressed overall.
Seattle Post - This guy was at the San Fran event, a broader article for the newspaper although there are some good quotes. I am not sure why but he manages to fit a few references in to Nintendo?
CNET - Also from the San Fran event, seemed most impressed with the graphics of certain titles.
"After four hours of this, I left the event. I'd tried about five or six games, and have no trouble reporting that the Xbox 360 was the best console experience I've ever had. The graphics were nearly perfect, the sounds were melodic, the interfaces mostly intuitive and I even have to say that the launch titles Microsoft has lined up, while not huge, covers the right range to please the hard-core gamers that will be the target market: basketball and football, several racing titles, a first-person shooter or two and some fantasy."
You can view some pictures of the event with some new screens in
