Here we go:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (GTA
A) records the distance you have traveled by foot, car, motorcycle, boat, and other transportaion means in feet.
In order to figure the landmass, I flew a jet to the southern most part of the map (bottom), and recorded my distance in feet travel by plane. Then I flew directly north to the northern most point of the map (top) and recorded my distance in feet traveled by plane. The difference between these two numbers is the length of the map in feet (from bottom to top). This distance came to 19,860 feet.
Then I divided 19,860 by 5280 to convert this number into miles, and got 3.76 miles for the length of the map. If the length and width of the map are approximately the same distance, then the GTA
A map would cover 14.14 square miles.
GTA
A = 14 square miles TESIV = 16 square miles (zonder caves en planes of Oblivion = ca. 10+ sq m)
This would mean that Cyrodil is slightly larger than the playable area in GTA
A. Now, try walking across San Andreas without any modern transportation, and it will seem even larger.
Take in mind that these calculations are extremely dubious as I had to rely on Rockstar's measuring abilities which may or may not reflect true scale. (Wow, that was all one sentence!)
