J.K. Rowling today, Thursday 23rd June, answered mounting speculation about the nature of her new project and announced Pottermore, a unique and free-to-use website which builds an exciting online experience around the reading of her hugely successful Harry Potter books, and is partnered by Sony.
The announcement today was heralded by the revealing of the website’s name via an online search for its letters, and a ‘coming soon’ holding page which received over a million visits within 36 hours of launching.
For this groundbreaking collaborative project, J.K. Rowling has written extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories, which will inform, inspire and entertain readers as they journey through the storylines of the books. Pottermore will later incorporate an online shop where people can purchase exclusively the long-awaited Harry Potter eBooks, in partnership with J.K. Rowling’s publishers worldwide, and is ultimately intended to become an online reading experience, extending the relevance of Harry Potter to new generations of readers, while still appealing to existing fans. As the Pottermore Shop develops, it is intended that it should include further products designed specifically for Harry Potter fans, offering a potential outlet for Sony products and services related to Pottermore. In keeping with Harry Potter’s international appeal, the site will launch in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish, with more languages to follow.
In the new website, the storyline will be brought to life with sumptuous newly-commissioned illustrations and interactive ‘Moments’ through which you can navigate, starting with the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone. On entering, you choose a magic username and begin your experience. As you move through the chapters, you can read and share exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling, and, just as Harry joins Hogwarts, so can you. You visit Diagon Alley, get sorted into a house, cast spells and mix potions to help your house compete for the House Cup.

ik had blijkbaar een minuut eerder toegang. Maar ik was de video al aan het embedden dus ik was ook te laat

Ebooks! eindelijk!

 

Het is iig (zoals verwacht) lame.

 

ik moet het nog maar zien, blij dat er niet een soort over priced abo systeem komt met een soort habbo hogwarts. Lijkt me leuk om extra info te krijgen over de wereld. Maar ja eerst maar afwachten

 

Het zal zeker wel leuk zijn, maar ik had liever iets nieuws gehad. Een boek, een game...een documentaire?

Misschien zou ik dit leuker vinden als het een 360 game was geweest. Ik weet het niet...
Al zal ik er natuurlijk day 1 zijn.

Is het iemand al trouwens gelukt om hun mail te submitten?

 

Die achtergrondinformatie lijkt me wel grappig, maar voor de rest is het meer voor kinderen. Was eigenlijk ook wel te verwachten.

 

Rowling kan beter een nieuw boek (geen HP maar haar schrijfstijl bevalt mij wel) of een HP-encyclopedie aankondigen. Zit niet te wachten op dit soort zooi

 

Same. Ik zie haarzelf nog wel een goede nieuwe franchise starten. Een Thriller van haar hand zou ik ook wel willen proberen hoor.

 

Dit valt wel tegen, ik had liever een MMO gezien.

 

Ik denk niet dat ze nog boeken gaat schrijven (behalve misschien die encyclopedie misschien) Die HP-serie is zo succesvol, dus alles wat ze schrijft zal vele malen minder zijn. Thrillers zie ik haar niet schrijven, denk dat ze alleen geschikt is voor fantasy, een nieuwe wereld creëren.

Had nou naar mij geluisterd! Ik zei toch dat het een interactieve site zou worden.

Ze had volgens mij vlak na HP7 al aangegeven te zijn met 2 (?) nieuwe boeken. Die beide niks met HP hadden te maken. En die ze volledig op haar eigen tempo zou schrijven.
Volgens mij zelfs een thriller, maar dan zou ik even moeten zoeken of ik dat interview terug kan vinden.

Beetje jammer dat die andere 2 dan niet meekomen

 

Een schrijfster zoals Rowling kan de pen echt niet neerleggen hoor. Het zit in haar bloed. Schijnt dat ze er helemaal kapot van was toen ze klaar was met de Potter-serie. Moet je nagaan, ik voelde mij al een paar dagen klote nadat ik deel zeven had uitgelezen. Het idee dat ik nooit meer iets nieuws van Harry Potter zou lezen maakte mij verdrietig

 

Nep! Als Emma zou komen weet ik zeker dat Dulle het hele land zou afreizen.

 

Iedereen die een traantje wegpinkt bij Perkamentus. Nee, dan ben ik gelukkig een bikkel. De slachtpartij in deel 7 is dan weer heel wat anders. Eindelijk eens actie, want het tweede deel van film 7 word echt

 

Hij heeft het toch helemaal niet over de dood van Perkamentus?

 

Ach, als je de gemeenschap mag geloven deed iedereen dat, maar ben ook niet zo rauwig dat na het uitlezen van de serie hoor.

 

Ooh oke, dat wist ik niet. Ik zou dan alsnog geen andere boeken van haar lezen.
