Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD to Include Feature on Theme Park; List of Deleted Scenes Available

Great news today for fans eagerly awaiting the DVD for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The British Board of Film Classification has now released the list of deleted scenes to be included, as well as news there is to be an 11 minute, 38 second feature on the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park currently under construction in Orlando, Florida. Interestingly, the theme park feature is listed as both an video and online feature. As for the the deleted scenes from HBP, a sum total of 6 minutes and 31 seconds in length, the scenes are as follows:

Ik wacht tot alle films uit zijn op DVD/Blu-Ray en dan wacht ik nog tien jaar op de Final Ultimate Extended Director's Cut 38 Disc Collector's Box. Met Lord of the Rings zijn ze ook nog altijd niet klaar, en dit is qua hype/commercie nog 10 keer erger.

A visitor to our friends at Leaky reported the verified Twitter account and they confirmed with Jo's reps that it's legitimate.

Jo created the account to put an end to all the fake ones. She also wrote this first (and only) message:

I am told that people have been twittering on my behalf, so I thought a brief visit was in order just to prevent any more confusion! However, I should flag up now that although I could twitter endlessly, I’m afraid you won’t be hearing from me very often, as pen and paper is my priority at the moment

Dame Maggie Smith on Her Fight with Breast Cancer, Filming Last Harry Potter and More
On this day when we in the fandom are celebrating Professor McGonagall's birthday, it is only fitting that we hear from the woman who brings this character so memorably to life on the screen: Dame Maggie Smith. The Times has released a brand new interview with this acclaimed actress, where she discusses her career, her role as the Head of Gryffindor in the Harry Potter films series (she noted she is about to film again shortly for Deathly Hallows later this year), and most importantly her battle against breast cancer. Readers will recall of course that we learned she was fighting this terrible disease while Half-Blood Prince was in production, and in this interview she discussed going through treatment as she was filming, and the aftermath of the chemotherapy she endured where she lost her hair. Noting now she is OK and has received the "all-clear" from her doctors, Dame Maggie Smith speaks at length and very movingly of her battle as follows:

The cancer must have made it harder. “It was hideous . . . not so good,” she says tightly and looks for some wood to touch. The chemotherapy, she says, “was very peculiar, something that makes you feel much worse than the cancer itself, a very nasty thing. I used to go to treatment on my own, and nearly everybody else was with somebody. I wouldn’t have liked that. Why would you want to make anybody sit in those places?”

Smith had found a lump on her breast. “I had been feeling a little rum and didn’t know why. I was never nervous, well I was, but I didn’t think it was anything serious because years ago I felt one before and had been hurled into hospital. It was benign and assumed this one would be too. It was a bit unnerving when it wasn’t. But treatment is so swift you don’t have time to think about anything.”

Telling her family (two adult sons and their loved ones) was “awful. It [the illness] kind of takes the wind out of your sails, and I don’t know what the future holds, if anything. I really don’t know.”

She says that she has received the all-clear from doctors, and goes back for a check-up later this month, adding that she’s disposed of the hats and caps she bought to cover her baldness: “You think they’re going to work and they don’t.” It was “very weird” to lose her hair. “So weird. Oh, it’s awful. You really do feel horribly sick. I was staggering around Waitrose and felt ghastly. I was holding on to railings, thinking, ‘I can’t do this’.”

She filmed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince mid-treatment. “I was hairless. I had no problem getting the wig on. I was like a boiled egg.”

Smith says that she accepted the possibility of dying. “I was relieved to be the age I was, because by now you feel like it’s all over anyway. That’s why I hated seeing young people receiving treatment [at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London]. I couldn’t bear that, it didn’t seem fair. To be honest, you feel so ghastly you wouldn’t mind dying a lot of the time.”

She struggles for words. “I felt . . . I was just . . . It leaves you so flattened. I’m not sure I could go back to theatre work, although film work is more tiring. I’m frightened to work in theatre now. I feel very uncertain. I haven’t done it for a while [her last stage role was in The Lady from Dubuque in 2007]. I’m not quite sure if it’s like getting back on a horse or a bike. Not that I’d do either, I’d fall off. It’s one of those things you ought to keep on doing and I haven’t for a bit. I would love to be able to because I do love it, but I feel a great lack of confidence. Being unwell and having withdrawn . . . I haven’t been in London for so long, it’s quite scary up here.” Smith is clinking the ice absently in her mineral water. It will seem unimaginable to many that she is talking about giving up theatre, I say. “Well, there’s a limit to what you can do. I’m not into that argument there aren’t any parts for older women, though. Anyway, why should there be? If there’s work I’ll do it and if there isn’t . . . I’ve still got to stagger through the last Potter.”

Helen McCrory: WB is "letting out all the stops" with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Exciting news today in the form of a new interview with actress Helen McCrory. Speaking to UK Rotten Tomatoes, the actress discusses her role as Narcissa Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, confirming the cast will be doing a read-through today of the script for Part Two, the bulk of which is due to begin filming this month. She also says fans will be in for a treat with these final installments in the Harry Potter series, noting "her work on Deathly Hallows was going well and promised an epic finale for Potter fans. "It's got a full stop," she told us. "I think up to now, every director who has done a Harry Potter has had to do a dot-dot-dot. They know it's a sequel, they know there's another film coming out. But with this one, we can actually make everything have an epic ending. It's going to be final. And it's going to be huge. There doesn't have to be any more pauses or dot-dot-dots. So they're letting out all the stops with this one."

Helen McCrory also reflects on the ending of the story for the cast and crew, as well as for the characters in the series, notably Harry Potter.

"We finish in April and it does feel different on set actually," she explained. "Some people have been doing it for 10, 11 years. It's part of their lives. So although I've just joined them at the end, a lot of people have a huge emotional commitment to it. There are children that have grown up with the people on the set, like the directors and the costume designers backstage. It's a very big occasion for those people."

Despite the magical challenges faced by Harry and co. as Voldemort continues to gain power, McCrory thinks that what makes director David Yates' time on the series so special is his attention to the more human aspects of the franchise. "[Half-Blood Prince] was definitely filled with teenage angst, and you remember how violent teenage angst is. There's nothing romantic about it. You're thinking, Oh my God, what am I going to do for the rest of my life? You're starting to make decisions about the rest of your life. I think [David Yates] really summed that up in a very real way, and a very serious way.

"I think with these next two films, he's looking at this character becoming a man. And that again, is quite an epic story. That's Ulysses. Rites of passage. It's exactly what Noel Clarke did, in a way, with Kidulthood. We still watch those stories, whether they're set in Hogwarts or New Cross."

Ik kijk uit naar de laatste films, maar zie er tegelijkertijd ook tegen op. Je wéét gewoon dat het nooit zoals in je eigen fantasie kan zijn, maar ik kan ook niet wachten om al dat spektakel verfilmd te zien.

First 'DH' footage to be featured on 'HBP' special edition DVD

We can now confirmopens in new window that the first official footage from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be featured on the special edition DVD of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

We do not know if this is a behind-the-scenes featurette, or some form of teaser. But we will be sure to let you know as soon as that information is available.

Other features include: The J.K. Rowling, A Year in the Life documentary, deleted scenes, "Close Up with the Cast of Harry Potter," a sneek peek at the Wizarding World theme park, a Q&A and interviews with the cast, and more!

Report: JK Rowling "working on something, but it's not Harry Potter"

There is a new article today regarding author J.K. Rowling and her next piece of literature. The Telegraph is reporting that at a recent fashion week showing, Jo "bid for three tickets to see Stella McCartney’s Paris show at a Gala Auction in London, in June, to raise funds for the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation, and bought along two friends." JKR is next quoted as saying “I’m working on something, but it’s not Harry Potter,” she said. “I need a Harry break.” Readers will recall of course we recently heard directly from the author as well via her official Twitter where she said "pen and paper are her priority" at the moment. We do not know what she is working on alas, and will update should there be any further developments.

Maar ik heb em al bij Bol gereserveerd waar je een stukje film krijgt (die actie is nu btw voorbij).
Helaas heb ik nergens een bevestiging staan dat ik dat stukje film hoor te krijgen. Hopelijk vergeten ze het niet.

Mja, 18 november dus. Is iets eerder dan ik dacht. In de US komt ie bv pas in december uit.

Iedere HP film is tov. het boek fail, dus daar kijk ik niet meer van op. Leuke films, maar de boeken blijven vele malen beter.

Ik heb die film ook ge preorderd, maar hij komt dus 18 november? Dat zou nice zijn (denk ik).
En ik heb de film ook gedownload, maar nog geen zin gehad om hem op mijn exteren hdd te zetten en dan thuis te converte, aangezien ik bij mijn pa down op de sloomste pc op aarde
