Source founder Dave Mays and Raymond "Benzino" Scott will play the recording from start to finish, which they claim was obtained by three hip-hop fans from Detroit who were "peers" of Eminem in the early 1990's when the recording was made.

According to the press release, the magazine claims to have verified the authenticity of the tape, but did not reveal what measures they took in determining whether the tape is indeed the voice of Eminem.

"The tape contains what is clearly identifiable as Eminem's voice, reciting racial slurs targeted against Black women," the magazine said in a press release. "It proves Benzino right after a year of being vilified by the media for bringing such questions surrounding Eminem to the fore."

In the past, the magazine has included full page posters and cartoons depicting Eminem as Elvis and Benzino crushing candy M&M's in addition to a variety of articles aimed at discrediting Eminem and artists on his Shady Records. Benzino and Eminem have also recorded numerous records aimed at discrediting each other.

"Bringing this tape to the public is the latest chapter in The Source Magazine's ongoing effort to expose influences corrupting Hip-Hop, including racism," the magazine said.

Ik denk niet dat Emr acist is, al z'n crew leden zijn black, als een zwarte rapper iets over zwarte vrouwen zouw zeggen zou het de normaalste zaak van de wereld zijn... dus eigenlijk racisme tegen over Eminem, maarja ik blijf et een sukkel vinden.

 

Die sukkel is wel de beste lyricist van dit moment ... niet dat jij daar wat van snapt maar goed ...

Ik vond hem eerst ook slecht na dat 'grapigge batman deuntje'.
Maar die gast heeft zeker skillz. Ik vind hem zelf alleen wel beter in battlen, want zijn liedjes zijn niet altijd helemaal naar mijn smaak. Koop dus geen CD's van hem, maar ik herken zeker een gast met skillz.

 

benzino is een drol, ik heb de tape net gehoord het is eminem, hij spit een paar negatieve lines, maar deze tape zou aantonen dat em een racist is en dat doet deze tape dus niet.


"Ray Benzino, Dave Mays and The Source have had a vendetta against me, Shady Records and our artists for a long time," Eminem said in a statement. "The tape they played today was something I made out of anger, stupidity and frustration when I was a teenager. I'd just broken up with my girlfriend, who was African-American, and I reacted like the angry, stupid kid I was. I hope people will take it for the foolishness that it was, not for what somebody is trying to make it into today."
